Whilst employed by Barrick Aust (Osborne mine) as a Process Operator / Maintainer , my role as a senior operator included the supervision of shift crews within the processing stream , of business partners during scheduled shutdowns and the training of new employee’s within the plant process, these area’s include (crushing, grinding, floating, tails/concentrate handling and control room operations.) I have completed QMS 1, 2 & 3 and have a Certificate IV in workplace training & assessment.
At Osborne I was part of a team that were able to improve and up grade a 120tph plant to a 285tph efficient processing system which saved millions in annual running costs and effectively increased annual revenue significantly. Examples included: - pump liner trails which increased liner life from 30hrs to hundreds of hours; repositioning clarifier/cyclone clusters to allow pumps to become redundant; upgrading small inefficient pumps to give volume for less effort and wear.

On a daily basis, job requires:
- daily production reporting, goes out before 8am
- pit graphics updates
- new blast patterns created/locations of shovels, drills, diggers, update in pit graphics Modular VNC
- cross check ore mining records in dispatch records with Geology spotter sheet to ensure that oreblocks, tonnages moved per locations are the same.
- Drill and blast statistics (locations, drill pattern, meters drilled) entered into dispatch 
- relief dispatcher in the hot sit
- enjoy the teamwork in the engineering team as well as operations
- in close communication with maintenance department, reporting defects and GPS problems with mining fleet
- provide support to operations through the LP dispatch screen summary to optimise production, factors considered include: haul cycle, dump queue, shovel hang, fuel consumption, etc.

working with Barrick had enable me to accept more challenges and overcome them in a peaceful way. the day to day work was with the local people interviewing them on their unit of food consumption, day to day activity and their living standard.
 thus, I had to provide necessary information and advice on how to be self reliant by involving themselves in small business enterprises like raising of chicks and so forth. 
 Also the soil sample and water sample were collected for metal analysis.

Became very proficient in the use of Surpac Software. Enjoyed keeping the team happy with timely set out information.
I enjoyed keeping the mine data up to date by upadting and processing data.
 Most difficult part was keeping the output up so as not to cause downtime.Learned useful lesson in taking time to carry out work slowly in order to avoid rework.
  The importance of teamwork was very clear so as to avoid expensive downtime and potential safety issues.

-filling and writting of Job cards and time sheets
-managing stress of working abnormal hours

On a daily basis, I am required to do development designs using Mine Sight 3D. The more I work on the designs coupled with supervision from supervisors, the more competent I become using the software. Thus, everyday I learn new things for my personal and career development.

The working environment is great and everybody is willing to help build career paths.

During my stay at Barrick Gold Cooperation lumwana I have come to enjoy the safety aspect of the company and the target oriented mentality that is embedded in each and every worker that works at this mine.Its a company I can recommend anyone to work for and they will not regreat the experience.

It was a very good company to work for. my co-workers all work hard to keep this site enjoyable I work at a mine site that barrack own and sold it to other company and ever body on site lost there jobs
