What is the best part of working at the company?
I was lucky enough to be placed on a great team. The management recognises our contribution; the leadership team is approachable and will listen to suggestions.

You've got to be open for feedback and don't be afraid to jump on special projects inside.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Our team prides itself on working with the Department of Social Services; we must constantly tweak and improve how we submit and collect reports.



What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It starts with the executive team; they've embodied the right attitude, therefore trickling down to our managers and supervisors. The practice excellence team works with everybody to improve each department further. 

Everyone becomes reasonably personable when you approach it from a professional perspective.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I started the days a few minutes early, and my officemates would ask about my day. Sometimes, my manager or supervisor would chat briefly before I start work.

The building is shared with other departments, and each supervisor ensures that they model a responsible team so that lunchtime will have a mix of different teams sharing the tables.

•	Developing the social and living skills of children and young people in residential care to facilitate their effective transition into the community and reunification or reconnection with their families
•	Assessing and responding to the individual needs of children and young people in care and increasing the chances of successful intervention 
•	Supporting Child and Youth Support Workers in delivering quality outcomes for children and young people in care 
•	Providing primary care for Residential Care residents including behavioural control, household duties and transportation of children and young people to school, activities and appointments 
•	Working with children and young people and external professionals to contribute to the delivery of programs and services, which facilitate the caring and development of children and young people
•	Maintaining an appropriate level of safety and supervision of children and young people in the security of residential care facilities

24/7 shift system is handy for life balance, but roster staff sometimes bully you into shifts you can't work or at placements you have bad experiences with. Other times there are zero shifts available so it's difficult to have a longstanding financial commitment like a mortgage. NO opportunity for career advancement or flexibility within the role, and the head office culture is absolutely toxic, arrogant and cliquey. No support for staff, managers impossible to track down, training is lacklustre. Pay rate is dismal for the work, absolutely unfair compensation for being abused on shift almost every day, and no support after any incidents other than a half-assed EAP offer. No supports in place for kids in residential care either, staff are simply a band-aid on the bigger issues Baptist Care ignore.

No support from management. Client details not updated which made difficult for agency staff working with unfamilar YP. No flexibility with shifts and/or shift changes. Completely not child focused e.g will not allow new staff to be ongoing in houses to have consistency for YP's. Not given permanent part time/fulltime opportunities even long term employees not offered. 

The company does not value the company irk life balance and job security is low.
The interview process is not difficult but it’s frustrating to wait for nearly a month to start.
If you work on a casual base, there is no work life balance or set shifts. You can expect to be working every day or just one day per week depends on their demand.

I was a youth worker with baptist care for 4 years. Working with the kids was wonderful, but the workplace was toxic - people who worked hard, did not get promotions, those who knew someone in the office, did. 
It was more about the money they got paid for kids, than the welfare of the kids.
The colleagues on my level were good. Some seniors were, but mostly, it was extremely toxic. 

The job is very rewarding and a good environment if you have a supportive team. There is not a lot of support from higher management. Can be stressful when you are in a difficult situation with lack of support. It is a good workplace to be in for a few years, learn what you can when your on the job. Flexibility and pay are fair. 


I worked for baptist care for just over a year. They were beautiful people to work for and i enjoyed helping people achieve the goal of employment it was very rewarding. The hardest part of the job was trying to help those who really didn't want your help but attended appointments just to stay on payments from center-link.

Passionate people that work there, but people in leadership positions don't appreciate the work that is done, nor do they recognise where they need to develop their own people and leadership skills. A lot of room to develop your own skills as there are many resignations and you'll be able to take on their workload...for no extra pay.
