BGC Contracting

I had wanted to join one of the major builders for a long time and this offer finally came though, although I was dubious about this builder as I'd heard so many bad reports from people working with them or building though them.

I was very proud to be a part of the industry but I did have a terrible experience. Not only did I have consultations with far too many unhappy customers, but it was an effort to satisfy them and bring them around so to speak, only to have their requests shot down again. I thought if I could let them feel this house was theirs and make their own decisions, we could make a happy customer out of them. Simple little things like location of the kitchen sink so it was more practical, rather than in an awkward to use location. Things I thought to be simple, weren't.

I also didn't seem to fit in with the girls as I had a lot of inside information that was helpful, such as product knowledge so it would help to upsell during a consultation, but inform the customers why it was a better choice. I like to be helpful but it was received differently. They were very hard to work with and worked insularly, where as I like to work as a team and share knowledge. I was very, very unhappy there and found it quite a disturbing experience even though I'm a very confident person.

A typical day at work is an early start followed with 12.5 hr days. My job for the day can vary depending on what my supervisor has given me to do. If im on the water cart, I needed to be on the ball and keep ahead of my time management and make sure im fast, efficient and doing my job safely at all times whilst doing my absolute best as its a high demanding job and would rather be efficient than being asked by management to go to a particular job. I enjoy doing this job even though its demanding, it sets me a challenge for my shift to be my absolute best and do the right thing and show the company that I work for that I am a good, reliable employee which has given me opportunities to move forwards with my job.

A typical day of work are safe and also your co worker are looking after each other and I learn a  lot more working with different culture and different people and with the management point of view are very much friendly to every one and they manage the people in a good way,and on the hardest part of the job,I could say that there is no hardest job because we are all eaqual in the sense of designated job description but we still help each other and setting goals to accomplished the task,The most enjoyable part of the job is we care as a brother and by looking each other back are most safetiest part ,when you are away from you family and work remotely just to keep you safe and secure.Go home in one piece.

This was my very first job in Mining. Coming straight from Hospitality, which I had been in for 28 years, it was a shock.
I took with me, when I left, the achievement of becoming a driver of Haulpaks, and learning what FIFO was like and how to deal with it and the mining life.
I enjoyed most of it except I didn't know, at first, how to combat the behavior of most of the people on site. I was used to going forward to people and I learned to keep very private and separate from the workers whilst staying friendly.
I came away having become stronger and it was good experience.

3 loads a day from windarling to Kooly operating C510 Kenworth pulling 3 trailers with a payload of 210 tonne.Check and maintain daily operation of roadtrains.Overall good work ethics with in my crew really good bunch of guys to work with.Weather conditions at times can be very challenging.The most enjoable part of my job would be resolving an issue when things go wrong and finishing of my day incident and accident free

Autonomous position which involved interaction with Stakeholders including Government, Consultant and Client representatives. The most enjoyable part of the Project (which I was engaged under Contract) was being able to achieve Progress which was ahead of target programs and budget.  
Management was supportive with a structured approach. I enjoyed being able to mentor my Staff and motivate subcontractors.

Work together, hang out together, work out together, management was great, co-workers are like family, hardest part of the job spending time away from the family, the most enjoyable part is working as part of a great team to achieve our goals with an impeccable safety record and seeing what your hard earned money can provide for your family. Such a shame it couldn't last the mining slump.

My work experience with BGC Contracting has been stimulating.  I was working at CPM at the campsite, Karratha.  The employees are helpful and senior management very thoughtful and caring.  I had a good time with them and learning a skill.  otherwise, I have no complaint and enjoyed my time with them.  BGC Contracting is a professional company, very focused on work and job matters. The superiors are very people-focused and get things done.  I will always recommend BGC Contracting to a friend.

doing daily checks, start up machinery, make sure the production line was running at full capacity, watch screens for any malfunction on the production line. Was always informed of what was required when starting work, and was always instructed what needed to be done. Working 1 week nights and 1 week days 12 hour shifts was the hardest part of the job. Learnt a lot about production. When things were running smoothly along the production line.

I enjoyed working with BGC most of the time as nobody could be 100 percent happy 
We had loads of backup in the service in having information available as Heavy diesel mechanic
We did get essential training but being on a small project we did miss out on what the company offers.
I did get a role as Supervisor at different site at the end of contract but our Contract manager followed to that site and personal issues between us got me sacked.
Apart from that I enjoyed working for them
