This company’s management thrives on scare tactics and control methods on their staff all the while smothering any kind of discussion on fairness that staff try to make. There have no hygiene methods in place for the use of their vehicles during this time of COVID pandemic, and these cars can be used by multiple courier staff. And not once in my 15 years of working there have they cleaned the cars either professionally or at all. The management have ZERO compassion or care for their staff, even in difficult times of family loss. Instead staff are told to “get over it” and forced to return to work before they are ready. Break times are not even thought of by the management- no one asks about staff break times or if they are getting one - it’s simply a culture of work til you finish your shift and if you can’t, you don’t get to discuss it anyway. Managers talk over their staff and don’t let you speak. 
Collection staff are under trained and are forced to do collections they aren’t competent in. Or they are trained by other staff colleagues as the management have no time for their staff, ever. There is a phone app which staff have been forced to have on their personal phones to sign in & out of, which is set up to work on favour of what they management want, not the staff. Staff cannot input their preference of shifts or when they are unavailable into this app as these icons have been switched off/made unavailable for staff. This means staff are phone at all times of the day, no matter of its their day off. Managers treat their staff as though they work 24/7 by expecting them to read & respond to text messages, emails and notices. Management puts rules in place for staff to adhere to, however break any boundaries and rights staff have. They work on a “You owe me” basis. If you call in sick, then they expect you to make it up to them - as though you owe them for having time off to rest. They get angry at you for taking any sick leave. 
Management don’t even say “Good morning” or “Bye” to staff. There is no good working relations, only a “do as I say” expectation. 
There are too many relatives in this company!!! And managers tend to give too much favour to those they know well!!! Be careful if you have issues with any of these people, because nothing gets done about their sloppy work attitudes due to their close ties with management. You are left to pick up their slack! Although there are few nice people, it’s not a happy working environment. 
I wouldn't recommend this company. 


I enjoyed my work. Unfortunately management is run by bullies and incompetents who blame everyone else for their mistakes and stupidity. Supervisors dont follow protocols and lie on  your performance reviews.  If you enjoy being bullied and intimidated or you are someone who enjoys bullying and intimidating others you will fit right in.  If this is not your cup of tea then stay away from this company. Hired as a casual, having to give 6 months notice to have 2 weeks off a year...pain the proverbial. Being expected to be available at the drop of a hat. Having your hours cut after 6 years from 5 days week to two days a fortnight to accomodate your supervisors mate. No overtime pay, but being expected to do overtime.   No recognition for prior experience and skills.    After 3 changes of ownership it is now owned by a capital investment company whose main priority is how much money can they make as they cut staff and close labs.  
DON'T  BOTHER WITH THIS COMPANY.

Management at Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) are incompetent, rude, penny pinchers and out of touch with their staff and the wider industry. Wages at ACL are low for the industry. I performed high level, senior duties for a number of years and management refused to promote me to an acceptable wage level, even while acknowledging my efforts and asking me to 'soldier on'. In South Australia there is instances of nepotism in senior management and misappropriation of company funds. There are limited (essentially none) career pathways at ACL, career progression is also not encouraged (costs money). They are the only scientific organisation I know which does not encourage or promote continuing professional development. WHS is also a complete joke, with little regard for employee safety short term or long term.

A typical day would be driving an hour to get to work to do a 3 hour shift. Being offered a limited amount of shifts specifically all the hard work by the manager. Dealing with multiple staff who've simply been there a decade too long and need to go. Constant pressure to speed and text while driving to complete tasks on time. High stress levels with zero support, all support goes to lab staff. The instructions are all 5 years out of date so that one person can be in total control all the time.
The workplace culture was very individualistic. Expect to get in a car that noone has done a safety check on for weeks, and the drivers have skipped all their lunchbreaks and shown up early without pay because it's a competition for company honour to rip yourself off. Not the brightest bunch really.

 get treated very poorly by scientist ,clients ,management . marketing and sometimes allied health staff  ,must be thick skin to work in this  role as venepuncture is feared by a lot of patients so expect high levels of anxiety and emotions   ,also perform urine drug screen some staff members  have been physically and verbally abused ,little protection even though advocated through work safe ect little is supplied ,staff are left in dangerous and vulnerable positions for very little pay not much benefits when full time especially, hard work , lack of support ,dangerous conditions for poor pay

- Emphasis on cost-cutting. 
- VERY understaffed and underresourced.
- Unstable, outdated IT system.
- Exploitative, professionally isolating. Get accused of being inefficient or unproductive even though other labs have up to 50% more staff for a similar workload.
- EVERYONE in the lab get worked to the bone with little professional support. No recourse for poor treatment apart from resigning.
- Central management not supportive. NO appreciation is given for the hard work you put in despite above working conditions. Career progression NOT encouraged or facilitated within the organization.

Everything, management is corrupt and allow bullies at every level. They turn a blind eye to this and HR is useless.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic, if you are a hard worker and honest person they will crush you. If you are a lazy, manipulative person this is the company where you will thrive

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Will deplete your soul is the best description. Start early be bombarded with other peoples lack of organisation and fore thought so apparently it then becomes your issue.

This place is toxic and management is difficult. It is largely being run by people who do not possess scientist qualifications and often make decisions that are not appropriate due to lack of understanding of scientific needs of the business. The leadership clearly don’t understand the everyday runnings of the pathology units and make decisions that are often a bit silly. The leadership also treat the company as if it’s a factory type job. They penny pinch and don’t understand the robustness of healthcare management. Under performers tend to stay in the company long term while high achievers leave fairly quickly as they are able to move to better places much quicker. 

If they got rid of upper management and started again this would be a great company to work for.  If you are not in the boys club (the execs and mates of the CEO), you will be belittled, not told anything, expected to work til you drop, forget about any duty of care you should have and slowly lose your passion and will to live..... no one in this company knows what is going on and are treated like pests.  There is no follow up or communication except when they need something.  When they are not sacking people to save a few bucks (the workload just goes to other overworked employees), I have never met so many people looking for work elsewhere.

The whole network is based around "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine", coupled with an overriding drive for profits instead of customer service. There is no avenue for appealing decisions which are illegal and involve full blown workplace bullying. Imagine being told you are contracted to 30 hours a fortnight, yet have been screamed at - yes, publicly screamed at - for saying you have a couple of days a month or so in the future you cannot work, as being part time means you need to be available all day and every day.
