Australian Catholic University had a true Catholic identity where the individual was respected. It had a very caring supportive environment and I shall always treasure the seven years that I worked there. Initially employed in 2007 as a casual mail clerk, My day started at North Sydney post office, where I collected the mail and parcels etc.
After sorting back at the campus, I spent the remainder of the morning delivering to the various campuses and it was a very friendly experience. Delivering copying paper for various departments and collecting mail for the 4pm deadline ensured a reasonably busy day all up. The University has grown substantially since 2007 and has a number of new degree courses available in North Sydney, e.g. Physiotherapy, and also Law. My management team in Campus Operations were first class and I have only great memories. They were very supportive on a number of occasions when two members of my wife's family, passed away. I found management in all departments friendly and supportive. Overall, a great university to work for.

The expectation that a teacher can teach anything does not apply to tertiary academics but they expect it
Will take almost any student from anywhere without discrimination and without ability to read and write plus converse in English to university standard expectations
Most students very grateful when an academic actually supports their needs and they learn something useful
Too few and not enough labs, classrooms and lecture theaters

I have recently completed my DIV 2 medication and IV endorsed diploma of nursing. I found this course to be rewarding and challenging. I have gained many experiences from the clinical placements and I have been fortunate to gain these through excellent hospitals. I have a strong passion for nursing upholding a high level of professionalism, work ethic and patient advocacy. I personally feel that completing this course to en devour a career in nursing later in life, has enabled me to remain and be completely focused on all aspects required for nursing and to deliver a very high standard of care, building good rapport with my patients, their families and fellow colleagues. Previous life/work experiences and maturity that comes with age/responsibilities has been a key factor in molding the nurse that I have become and will continue to do so.

Title says all but with the terrible management, insane workload for staff, a lot of micromanagement, positions being compressed with too many responsibilities, upper management interfering with lower staff and employees, workers being two-faced ready to backstab you at work with tasks. ACU doesn't even follow their Catholic core values anymore. Pretty big on their talk.

Poor treatment towards casual staff, treating them as expendable assets, permanent staff stealing all the credit of work, a lack of recognition, value and respect towards the casuals and being treated as a number. Casual contracts were designed to exploit casual workers and prevent them from converting them into permanent staff. 

As a former staff working at ACU, I would not recommend casual work to anyone. Leave that place while you can. 

on a day to day basis, I manage over 85 staff and engage with numerous stakeholders. Investing in people is the key to best outcomes.
Managing staff, departments and services effectively and efficiently is an essential part of my role as the manager. 
Co-workers make the core of my business and are very valuable. 
The hardest part of my role is trying to maintain and educate the workforce to stay current and up to date with their practice. 
I enjoy the engagement with staff and patients and everyone that uses our service.

Friendly and supportive colleagues.  Workplace culture is to work longer hours than normal as there is not much automation and there is quite a bit of duplication of procedures due to the distributed location of the campuses.  The most enjoyable part of the job is to bring parties together to discuss and resolve issues and to improve processes.

My daily Work involves a good analytical skills in Information Management  to deal with highly confidential data, I've learned a good set of skills to continue developing my career in Information Management and Business Systems.

good clients a lot of staff being made redundant due to government cut backs - a typical day is seeing clients for assessments, referrals and ongoing counselling - up to seven clients per day

Staff are keen and intelligent in what they do. They are very supportive and organised. I have been given good opportunities at ACU.The university has challenged me in many of their mathematics units.
I have had the opportunity to be a sessional staff tutor as well as a lecturer.
The hardest part of the job was working effectively within the Covid 19 environment.
