You’re told you can have flexible working hours, but when the team manager takes certain days off, everybody else on the team has to take the same days off.  Some of us weren’t allowed to work on the days the team manager wanted free.

The team manager didn’t give us a set time for breaks e.g. one day it was 1pm for our main break, the next day it was 2pm, one day it could last 40 minutes, the next it could be 30 minutes.  The times would also change for 15 minute breaks.  And when this happened day-to-day going door-to-door, it was very annoying.

The way frontliners are encouraged to act unethically through “objection handling” (which is just a euphemism for harassing the public) and knocking on doors with signs that clearly state “DO NOT KNOCK.”  I even witnessed one experienced frontliner trying to get a sign up with a driver who was turning at a junction in a housing estate.  How could this not be considered a breach of the code of conduct for frontliners?!

The team manager lays on his friendliness hard with newbies at the beginning, but if you’re not making money for the organisation, that façade quickly unmasks itself.  


This is advice for the team manager, please communicate with your team members properly.  Announce days off a day before rather than on short notice.  Give them a set time for breaks, stop being unpredictable with your times, it’s irritating and it doesn’t make some of us warm to you, trust me.  Give other team members the option of working during your days off.  Please be more organised with your routes, especially with regards to how others can get there.

We had a late start at 1 pm mostly at the location where we would decide to knock doors for fundraising. We would have weekly meetings in the office. Fundraising was a challenging yet very rewarding experience for me. While raising funds for important causes and contributing to society, I learnt a lot of communication skills on the job. Our team manager was a very positive and encouraging person. The hardest part of the job was to make people realise the adversities in other parts of the world and to convince them to come on board with the organisation in helping solve issues in the world. There were many days when we got no doners after walking from door to door for hours. However, the most enjoyable part of the job was to meet so many people from various backgrounds with a common belief of making the world a better place, which was morally and socially so rewarding for me. I feel i have accomplished a bit of my duty towards humanitarian cause during my student days. I hope to continue to support causes that need our attention.

This  was a fund-raising job done for the Australia for UNHCR. Part of my responsibilities included developing strategies and setting goals to hit fund raising target; although I was most often involved in field work as well. I interacted face to face with donors, communicating the purpose of the fund-raising activities, and signed them for monthly direct debit donation. Some administrative duties included updating database, reporting financial progress, monitoring income and expenditure. It was quite an interesting but demanding job as one had to travel different locations around Melbourne at least 3 times a week, supervising and overseeing teams and sometimes raising funds at shopping centres and on streets around Melbourne.

Even though it's a non- profit organisation, it is not a commission- based job. They pay based on the hours an individual works whether one achieves the target or not. However, job security is not guaranteed as one may be asked to leave if he or she hasn't met target for a couple of shifts.

Good management of team by the team leaders. The workers and team leaders were very enjoyable to work with, and the team culture was nice. Main job is to fund raise all over Sydney, sometimes outside of Sydney and collect monthly donations from people on the street. However, if you do not consistently meet the weekly targets you are in danger of losing your job.

 is alittle intense (not a bad thing) but kpis are hard to reach, and if not reached, you will be fired. Management felt like children directing children but interstate management was detailed and involved. 

The organization is multicultural and humanitarian which serves all humans and treat them equally ,always standby and ready to help wherever there's a humanitarian need or crisis around the world! They are the first one on the ground to respond

It was a wonderful experience for me as I had a chance to see Amazing Australia. Being a front liner specialising in door to door was no easy task but the support and encouragement I got from the management team kept me going until i left the conutry.

working involved advocating and soliciting for funds for refugees in refugee comes. Learned customer service skills, social skills. improved communication skills and network building

Fundrising programme.It was good if you are very talkative.
We need to stand a long day and talk to people in the street.
I had little difficulty initially. The team will support very much.
