Art of Smart Education

Art of Smart is such a collaborative, vibrant company to work for. 

They allow you a great deal of flexibility in terms of the amount - and type - of work you can take on. You will only ever have as many students as you can manage, in subjects and locations that are convenient for you. I was easily able to transition between working face-to-face and working from home, and never felt overloaded or strained. They provide excellent resources to use with students - including subject workbooks, YouTube videos and blog articles. These resources are of such high quality that I have even used the YouTube videos and blog articles with classes that I teach in schools.

The head office team are so friendly and supportive, and are excellent communicators. Similarly, the other tutors are all so friendly and generous of their time and resources. Never once did I feel overwhelmed or "in the dark," and I always knew who I could turn to. 

Art of Smart is highly invested in the growth of its employees and offers many opportunities for advancement. Whether on a broader scale through promotions into new positions, or simply through professional development (i.e. coach conferences, onboarding), this is not a company where you will stagnate. 

All in all, I would highly recommend AOS to friends or family - both to work for as a tutor, or to use as a tutoring company. 

I worked at Art of Smart for 3 years, going through the covid pandemic and transitioning through a few different roles. I started out as a tutor with Art of Smart at the end of 2019. One of the best things about them as a tutoring company is the support they provide for their tutors. Their bank of resources has allowed me to focus on teaching as well as aided me in getting across specific topics I may not have studied. I really enjoyed working as a class tutor as well and I found that the class sizes were really good as well as again the resource support was phenomenal. The team working behind the scenes also helped when I need to give specific feedback to class students and supported me when I came up against challenges with content or students. 

Art of Smart is a very professional tutoring company that makes you feel welcome from the first interview. The interview process was quite enjoyable, and involved a mock lesson of a subject of your choice. Management is responsive via phone or email when you need assistance, and students are matched to you automatically. However, as an independent contractor, there is no sick leave or other benefits employees get in other companies, and often times the renumeration may not meet expectations and is slightly lower than many other companies. 

I really enjoyed my three years with AOS. I worked as both a tutor (high school and primary) and as a content writer. In both roles the team were really supportive and had online and face to face methods to check in with you. Easy to balance with university study. I recommend tutoring on campus if you live locally. 
Students are very polite and easy to work with varied work ethics. The team is there to support you when you encounter difficulties. 
Only other tip I would say is if you tutor at student's houses don't go too far outside your local area as commute becomes longer and there is no coverage for fuel expenses. 

Art of Smart is a great tutoring/mentoring company to work for that provides training early on and always stays in contact with updates and information. It's been extremely easy to balance work life alongside with other commitments such as university, exams and personal life. Flexibility in choosing how many students you want and when you want to work is also extremely good. From personal experience Art of Smart was able to give me my students very quickly and the resources provided now are also very helpful in providing lessons to the students. Staff and management team are also very helpful and friendly whenever you have trouble or questions. 

The flexibility options when working at AOS are great - the fact that you can tutor online, at a student's house, or at one of their campuses provides so many more options. The company is very well managed with hundreds of resources to utilise when planning lessons and are supportive when any issues with students arise. The pay is not mindblowing but it's much better than most minimum wage jobs e.g. retail or fast food - and there are various opportunities to increase your pay as well through extra training/ taking classes etc. Overall I have no complaints and would absolutely recommend working for this company! 

Rowan (CEO) and his team are very well organise in managing their business. They make sure to give tutors the fullest experience by holding events to meet new people that can be like a night game, workshops to develop your skills in employability  etc. They also provide useful materials or pre - prepared workbook to teach students with which makes teaching a bit easier and less stressful. They also offer good pay, flexible work and an adaptable environment. This was my first job and honestly no words can describe how great they are. 

Working at Art of Smart was definitely a fulfilling and positive experience that taught me valuable, transferrable skills. The workplace culture is extremely friendly and organised yet flexible, and the team does their best to accomodate your needs. They provide teaching high quality teaching resources and frequently contact their employees to make sure everything  is going smoothly. It was relatively easy to secure new students and there are plenty of opportunities to undertake different roles (e.g. class teacher/resource developer).

Art of Smart is a good place to start if you're starting out tutoring after high school, or even as a side gig (provided you meet an academic threshold). AoS matches students with tutors quite well in my opinion, but one key issue is that you will have to provide a $xx service whilst being paid less than that amount. This sometimes leads to unrealistic customer (mostly parents) expectations, but thankfully most customers are flexible with times/uni exams etc.

Art of Smart is a great opportunity for high school leavers and tertiary students to do meaningful work. The company does a great job matching coaches with students and provides resources that makes planning lessons easier. Lots of opportunities within the company to work in other roles such as resource development, marketing, etc.
