Worked there for a few months, always understaffed, and often nil replacement could be found, the staff agency was never called to replace staff.  Very stressful.  Management is ignorant and rude to staff. Workplace bullying from colleagues is usual. 

I felt super stressed before and after work. I went to work thinking about if we had enough staff. I went home unable to wean down from the stressful shift. I cried many many times. On the first shift, I did not have a chance to have a toilet break, it was that busy, I was asking the staff where was the toilet on the second day. 

Leaving Arcare Glenhaven was a no brainer decision. 

I felt bad for the residence. Due to the above-mentioned issues, clinical care is like a lottery. You are lucky if the RNs followed up the job properly, or you might miss your antibiotic by a few days. Yet management is not doing anything about it. Care manager is more like a Non-care manager.

staff between shift had only 15 minutes to Handover care of 120 residents. Management said this was because scientifically our brain started to wander after 15 minutes. So either staff rushed through the handover to finish on time, making the risk of missing information extremely high or stayed back to do it properly, unpaid. 

Some staff are very good at their job but felt very unsupportive from the management.  Because of understaffing, they were often the ones who had to cover the extra workload, yet no extra pay. 

The worst company I have ever worked with and will not recommend it to anyone.

It’s incredibly sad how a business can promote itself as “5 star” when it can’t even back up its own staff members. 
The care staff that genuinely have a lot of love for the residents end up being scrutinised for being too slow when at the end of the day they’re doing the right thing by giving dedicated care to the residents without seeming like they aren’t interested in what’s being said to them and enjoying the chats that their apart of. 
The higher up the ladder you climb the less your backed up with your work and you’re more likely to be blamed for petty things that have nothing to do with you. 
In short, the genuinely kind and caring staff no matter the role end up being made disposable and the rushed with no want to listen end up with all the shifts. 
The company also avoides overtime at all cost as well as agency staff which is practically frowned upon. 
Pretty unfair when the roster is short staffed and regular/ permanent  staff are  willing to fill the shifts but they aren’t allowed because they’ll be over their 76 hours per fortnight regardless of being causal or part time. 
Being employed casually would be the best option to begin with from what I’ve seen if you wish to consider working for this “5 star” company.

As a casual you can bid on shifts through the app so you can choose when to work so good work/life balance and hourly rate is high. Training on shifts was lacking and you are expected to know what you're doing on your buddy shifts. Training for fire training/company database etc was appropriate. Drama between all staff made it hard to be trained not knowing who to take advice from. Management does not investigate staff drama and prefers high turnover of staff over solving issues. Does not support care workers regarding aggressive residents and incidents resulting in injuries to care workers. Covid measures were/are appropriate. Facility is beautifully decorated and resident rooms are spacious.

A substantial work load for someone in a one person role, the pay is very low in addition to the work load required. Limited consistency, high staff turn over and not a lot of support from upper management. Expectations to roster in accordance to high staff turn over is significantly hard.  The staff complaints in relation to upper management and staff ratios becomes mentally draining as you’re left feeling helpless. The hours of work are good and the residents make the job worth while. Staffing issues, workload and low earning pay is what makes this job significantly unenjoyable. After 3+ years with the company I have come to the realisation this is a thankless position and more recognition and support deserves to be given to those in this role. It is a very taxing role, %90 of your time is taken up by rostering alone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Leaving, was the best part, I feel like as nice as this place looked, there would not be such a shortage of staff to patient ratio if it was based on person centred care. Most of the staff were good to work with. Residents were lovely, over all the company made out like the residents were main priority but staff were treated poorly not a lot of support, if staff had issues they were told it was their own fault and poor time management, when often staff would even go without meal breaks due to work loads.

2 people for 24 residents with 13 2x assists 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant, non stop barely time for breaks, and if you do have one, you end up feeling guilty.

Some sites were great to work in, great staff, great management, great to work at, then they changed their level of care, other sites created an environment that was unnecessarily hard, staff numbers were extremely low, many staff did not have the skills or the desire to offer great care to the elderly residents and were plain lazy, hard to get replacement staff, profits were more important than the care, food and activities given to the residents. Due to low staffing levels you were always running around catering for at best basic care needs, some days some of those basic care needs were reduced depending on who was working and if they could get a replacement for a sick staff member, sometimes working understaffed

Staff to residents ratio is HORRENDOUS at arcare keysborough. Has a very high manager turnover. There's simply not enough staff throughout the AM and PM shifts to properly look after residents and look after them WELL. All modern, fancy pants looking on the outside but rotten on the inside. Highly would NOT recommend anyone to look for employment there OR send their loved ones there. All they care about is money, money, money. Good grief.

I worked for close to a year at Arcare Craigieburn where I was succumbed to the worst workplace bullying ever. I contacted HR and even though they assured me that they were going to investigate, they did nothing. The however managed to sweet talk me into thinking they were on my side. I finally couldn't take it anymore and talked to HR to ask if I left they were still going to investigate. The lady was so sweet and assured me that my suffering wasn't going to go in vain. That she was going to investigate to make it better for other employees. So in short. Work at Arcare on your own risk. They only care about the money from residents and don't look after their employees.

I loved the place management, staff and co workers were so helpful,  working as a team and helping when other co workers. When things get tough the tough gets going. Never give up, was my first actions to wards my work and the love of my job. With a positive attitude and having care for others with empathy, brings calming and reassurings. Bring them as much joy happiness in their last year's . Security and comfort is a good start. This job was very rewarding. 

Arcare has a great culture, staff are diverse and great to work with (dependant on the facility you're employed)
HR are a different story, they only answer emails that they want to, being if they underpay you and you want compensation which happens often, good luck getting a response. But if they overpay you expect to hear from them trying to get their money back
If yoy world there make sure you check each and every payslip because they will Fudge it up every time, especially when it comes to overtime, meetings, training etc that you should get paid for
