Check Flight totals and make bars/units up accordingly, load units into trucks, direct truck into plane and operate highlift to take food into plane, check off each galley, load used units back into trucks and return. I was 16 when I first started at Alpha, I have grown into an adult, and had the pleasure to work with many great people from many different cultures. The hardest part of the job was being understaffed. The most enjoyable part of the job is going out onto the tarmac, lifting and loading planes, and of course the airhostesses. 

The only reason I remained in employment with Alpha was to pay my bills, same as everyone else there.  Management are rude, doctor the roster to suit favourites, and really have no idea of what is happening on the kitchen floor.  They employe staff and existing staff have to train the on no extra salary and still have to get the job done in 8 hours.  Too little employees spread thinly for an 8 hour working day.  And then they don't pay you properly for overtime, you have to fill out a form and fight for it.

From an office worker perspective, I find that the atmosphere & experiences that I gain from this job is totally different than what I used to do. Instead of dealing with money & number figures everyday, I am learning how to create meals for special needs passengers (i.e. diabetics, low calories, low sodium, religious, low fat, non-lactose, Asian & Oriental vegetarian, special allergies such as nuts, seafood, fructose, etc.....).  Although this job is not in my field but I've learned a great deal out of it in life & in the workforce.

Roster constantly changing. Staff turnover high. Told it'd take up to 6 months to settle in & understand all that I had to do. Insufficient practical training because servicing aircraft has to be done very quickly & sometimes at the expense of safety. Union members are frowned upon. The extra $300 or so gained by doing shiftwork & weekends is not worth it. A Mon to Fri $800pw job is a better choice. Probably more suited to younger workers below 40yo.

Typical day was being left to run a small procurement department. Learned to work and negotiate with Australian suppliers after 20+ years in Hong Kong. 
Senior management like to micro manage certain parts of the procurement process, due to historical issues, yet other parts there is a certain amount of free rein.
Generally good people to work with, and most other departments are very co-operative.

Job is good but the way management handle things is appalling. Honest, diligent workers don't get recognized for their efforts. If you are connected to management you get looked after. People who get promoted is not based on great work ethics but on who you know. Double standards. Half the workers get permanent rosters and the other half have to rotate. People who voice difference in matters at work are ostracized. Seen lots of great workers leave because of this.

a good workplace,loadind of food cart to the truck and transported to the aircraft ready for the intended travelling passengers.learned about how meals are carefully prepared for airline passengers.the management is good and the culture is also good because employees are encouraged to help each other so that our service is done and completed to satisfy our customers.

I loved the particular job I was doing however never enough stock. ALOT of favouritism in this workplace (Adelaide) No recognition for jobs well done. Never enough staff. Management is too top heavy. Total lack of communication!

Preparing food for the airline and cooking food, also going up on the airplanes and putting fresh food and beverage carts on the plane. My co-workers were great, nice, friendly and helped me out a lot when i was learning.

Opportunity to share skills and knowledge on new projects, adding value to the business and organise optimal customer delivery especially compartmentalising.
