I wouldn’t recommend Allambi to anyone entering the community services sector. If you’re stoked that you’ve been considered with no experience, know that it’s because the people in the sector know Allambi’s management reputation and the abandonment of responsibilities towards their young people’s cognitive learning and dignity. No emotional support after incidences, will happily throw you in with the most high needs young people with no information on their needs, generally resulting in incidences. Don’t have any control over who you support, even after incidences. Expected me to continue supporting a young person who was interested in my inappropriately and consistently threatened attacks of this nature. Took me off teams where I’d built a supportive role with the young people, and I’d stopped being faced with big enough ‘challenges’. Appalling company. 

If you get an easy-going client, that's great. But if you get a really challenging client, you can expect all sorts of abuse. Some managers are really good, others have no idea what they are doing. On call are slow to come out and assist. Clients get away with everything - barely any consequences at all. Good luck if you have to be involved with DCJ - they think they rule the roost. The rostering team are relentless and will contact you constantly. 

The clinicians in the Clinical department are great but that's about it. 

Clients can be difficult, however I found case workers / case managers were really nice people generally and would back you up.

Unfortunately not everyone in the houses at a support worker level is trustworthy and they will go out of their way to make you look bad, and them look good - especially when advancement opportunities arise.

The real problem with this company is the attitudes of those people in HR and senior management. HR are unreasonable and would rather pin issues to staff underperformance as opposed to looking into how issues have actually occurred. Great to get a foot in the door in the industry - but if you are looking to hang around long term - I'd give it a miss.

This job can be challenging depending on your client and/or team. Allambi provides a high level of care with clients that have challenging behaviours. Due to this it is important to have good support from management which sadly is not the case with this company hence the huge turnover and under staffing. HR are not approchable or supportive and will simply tell you that if you are stuggling that you should find another job. Experience can differ depending on who you know in upper management and where they decide to put you. I currently work here and I am looking for another job due to management and rosters being incompetent at their jobs.

Working for Allambi Care is a mixed bag. On one hand the teams of people have been fantastic, the pay is above average, and the work is stable. On the other hand the lack of personal security in the houses, the lack of support during incidents and the stagnant nature of change is bad. The management team does not spend much time in the houses, and there is a disconnect between the top and bottom. The company has asked me do things I don't agree to, and there is no advancement without being friends with the bosses.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Starting work when you now it's going to be a bad day working  with a particular person( teenager.)

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's not bad , you get to work alone  to do your work

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very stressful because of the work load that forced apon you.

This company does not care about employees wellbeing at all. If a client attacks you, you stay there and no one comes to help, even though they are supposed to. Money is awesome but you have no full days off. I was working 7 days a week and wouldn't answer my phone if i was with a client, i think it's rude, got written up for it, management couldn't get hold of me for a shift  was already doing a dble.

I worked for Allambi for 2 and a half years, 1 year was maternity leave. They were the best job I’ve ever had. The staff were very supportive and professional. The management staff were always ready to help no matter what the issue was. Being a casual you rotate between houses to help clients. Thankfully I had a set house to work at but I did occasionally have a casual shift at other houses. 

Staff are fantastic. Clients may be difficult but remember that comes with the terrain. The real problem is the constant shuffling of staff from the ground up, constant undermining from managers regarding case plan protocols and boundaries and not following up when absolutely necessary to ensure clients feel heard, supported and safe.

Great company with core values and ethics. Stressful job due to caring and supporting youth that have had confrinting upbringings due to abuse and neglect. Staff were often physically and mentally abused due to this
