A typical day sees me liaising with the 10 Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Stations from Cairns to Ballina.
I have learned that there are lots of different dynamics in a Fire Station which make it a very interesting place to work.
The workplace culture is at present changing as there has been a big restructure and new systems and processes are being brought in. This is sometimes good but sometimes not when processes are implemented that are not ready to be rolled out.
The most enjoyable part of my job is liaising with all the Operational Managers and staff on a daily basis. I love helping them by assisting them in training and implementing new systems. 
The hardest part of my job can sometimes be that I am isolated from the stations.

A very satisfying work place where you can excel if you are capable. There are processes to cover all fields of activity which are especially good for youngsters on a steep learning curve. However, off late the bureaucracy has increased. There are more responsibilities with lesser resources due to cost cutting. Even then the team culture is still very good. Top management should concentrate on over all good and efficiency rather than on one’s own good. In summary Airservices can be considered as a very good organisation for learning and experience. 

Management with a serious lack of knowledge. People not adding value, stifling bureaucracy, individual protectionism and a mantra of ‘we have always done this way’.

The HSE Managment System is an utter joke. It is complex, unusable, inflexible and so far removed from what is acceptable in other high reliability organisations.

Ironically some of the poorest performers have been retained/promoted since the redundancy program in 2016.

Excellent employer. excellent renumeration. Good friendly people. Safety first culture.

While I personally do not agree with some measures taken by senior management, the overall workplace has a common mindset of the uncompromising safety of everyone who flies aircraft within Australia and the surrounding regions, and equally of all staff who work in or for the company.

I have learned many things new in using SAP systems along with a Customised System, CPM exclusively meant for Planning & Financial analysis etc.,

Also handled various Projects with respect to Building New Control Towers, Fire Stations and upgrading various Building related projects as well.

Also,  exposed  to the working of Aviation Industries functions and its Legal compliances too.

A good place to work if you're an Air Traffic Controller.  The hours are relatively short for them and the work is good. Typically they work 1-2 hours on and then half hour - one hour off for a maximum of 35 hours per week or they get overtime for extra hours.  Pays very well too except whilst training.

Work colleagues are fun, friendly and welcoming of new staff. Celebrated birthdays which I thought was lovely. Attention to detail is a must in this industry. I would highly recommend Airservices Australia for their continuous training and ongoing support to new and existing employees. 

Flexible start finish times, opportunities fro secondments and colleagues working toward similar objectives make for a good workplace.
Multiple restructures meant changes in managers and staff but generally for the better.

Best part most staff working to toward the same end - safety.

Do not consider coming to work for air services. The workplace is toxic, the executive management is incompetent. The culture rewards people who toe the company line. Any criticism of leadership immediately labels you as not being a team player.

Working in a high stress environment the hardest part of the job is maintaining a positive attitude and being assertive in a workplace where your everyday work is closely monitored. This has driven me to be more ambitious and confident in dealing with everyday decisions. Prioritising and good decision making is vital.
