Each shift at the ACC varies. Some shifts are easier and more manageable than others and some shifts are incredibly draining and stressful. 
I've learned how to positively converse with guests and people within my wider community. 
Management can sometimes be quite difficult to communicate with; they often don't take into consideration other people's thoughts - it's their way or no way (sometimes)
The workplace culture at the ACC often varies. It always depends on the events that are about to occur. Some events are easier to manage than others and in this case, stress levels are at a minimum. Whereas if there is a big event, management gets stressed and that stress falls upon the staff as well. 
The hardest part of the job are the long nights and inconsistent hours. On the weekends you will always be working till at least 1am after starting at 5pm or possibly earlier. I often start at about 3pm and finish around 1.30am-2.00am depending on the size of the event. Then there are some shifts where you can start at 4am and finish at 4pm. The hours are very inconsistent which makes it difficult to maintain a sound lifestyle outside of the ACC. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with my mates. Some of the friends that I have made at ACC help me get through my shifts so much easier than if I was to work without them. They help get me through and I am grateful for that.

i learnt so much working in the kitchen with professionals.its been amazing.especially when u r working to cook at a commercial level the experience is awesome there is work stress but after a while it becomes part of u and u get to enjoy it i remember one of my chefs telling me that i'm meant to work in the kitchen all because of my experience and love of work in the kitchen.Its multi cultural now so u get the privilege to work with so many different people......

The staff are very professional from uniform to how we take food out in a orderly line - in sync, always seeing our customers discreetly making sure our customers have always got bottles of water, juice, red wine, white wine, Chardonnay an continue discreetly clearing. We're all given a run sheet so each of us know what we're all doing and know our tables (we all have 4 tables each an theyre staffed by a beverage & food attendant) At the end of event we clear tables take off the linen, stack the chairs and its all team at work so it doesn't take long at all.

Walk 20 kilometres in a suit for nine hours with a 20 minute break

The work environment and culture in this place is one of the worst I’ve seen 
You work so hard and management don’t care - it’s all about them. Gone very backwards in the last years and it’s a shame but new managers who have NO qualifications have been placed into superior positions  and have no idea how to handle situations or their staff. The centraliser rostering team and head have no idea either, they play favourites, which is very immature & unfair on others.  It’s all to hard.

.Have learnt a multitude of tasks including driving a forklift! Meeting patrons and clients from all over the world. Work life balance could be better managed. 
Have an excellent team of highly respected co-workers that are a pleasure to work with. 
Hardest part of the job is working 6 -7 days straight on a 24 7 roster.

The work there is very diverse and there is a great deal of infrastructure to be in involved with fro Meeting rooms , Exhibition Halls etc. Patrolling when I was there took about 1 hour and that was before stage three was built.

i enjoyed working in this place as i worked for 7 years and enjoyed every movement of it and this was in adelaide australia and my first job

I loved woring at the convention centre it was a great place to start working at as a  pleasant minded waiter, they gave me many hours which I appreciated
