Accenture is a consulting company, which means they have big contracts and have quotas to fill. It's like an army. You will be put where you are needed.

Realigning your career is basically impossible at Accenture. At all levels of management, the incentive is to block good employees under them from moving. The loophole is to be useless, but not too useless that they fire you. The general feeling among all levels of staff therefore is one of being trapped. Now that bonuses have been removed, there is little incentive to perform. Salaries rise slower than industry standards, and don't if you do not excel.

Equal pay for equal work is not a principal Accenture upholds.
You are aligned to a program when you join, and some are arbitrarily paid more than others. For example, it is common for two people to be in the same role doing the same work, but for one to be paid 8% more due to having a luckier alignment. Shifting alignment wipes your career progression since you are deemed to not have contributed to your new area.
The gender quotas are set extremely high, and other forms of virtue signalling are marketed hard. Compulsory voluntary service is also an Accenture staple.

Training is on the job and is sink or swim.

The employee attrition rate is extreme. Within a year, most of your colleagues will have left. There remains only managers and grads. Those who stay for too long find it extremely difficult to find new work. Hence, the title of this review.

At the end of the day, the main reason people join a consulting company, is to be able to move around and experience different projects and roles. Accenture doesn’t offer this, pays worse, usually has worse roles, and expects you to do Accenture work on top of your client work. Join the client directly instead. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you’ve signed a non-compete clause.

PROS
- Lots of opportunities to learn new things.
- No routine at all.
- Fast paced projects (for the ones who enjoy things moving super fast).
- Paternity Leave benefit (3 months).
- Very comprehensive Intranet Platform.
- Rich list of online courses in many areas, but you'll only have time for those in your rare and spare personal time...
- Lots of travel (again...if you like that and/or have no family to come back to). Pre Covid, of course.
- Lots of social activities (coffees, dinners, etc).
- Good place to work about Project Management.
- Possibility to relocate to other offices in other countries.
- Diverse workforce, with most people from international backgrounds.

CONS
- Most projects are too fast paced with high levels of toxicity and stress.
- Practically no work life balance, as the company implicitly encourages a culture of working overtime. 10-12 hrs/day is the norm during weekdays...and weekend work is very common as well. Forget about 9am-5pm work!
- High level of competition between employees, as you're ranked and compared to your peers during performance review time.
- Most projects have high levels of toxic people (from clients as well).
- Too many status meetings. It's not rare to have 3 a day (morning, afternoon, evening). On top of that, dozens of other meetings, only leaving the evening or weekend hours to actually do some work.
- Below the market salaries (at least up to Senior Manager level).
- Control freak micro management culture.
- Pressure to go into managerial roles. There's no technical career path.
- Too much travel (pre Covid, of course).

Was recruited for their tech program as a science student and was told my skills would be transferable and there would be plenty of support. What they failed to mention is that you can only get support with accenture if you can find it. Good luck. It's one big mess. You have four or five different contacts at a time for different needs and yet none of them seem to actually communicate with one another or seem to know anything that goes on. And when you are on a project , there's a chance you'll end up on a good project with a great management team. There's also a chance you get thrown in the deep end and get told to start with no clear structure of what's going on. 

My advice? Just go work for the client. They pay better, there's far better job security, and there's a better defined management structure. Less likely to be left in the deep end.

As a side note, they have a lot of talk when it comes to supporting those with issues with mental health deterioration or physical health issues, but found this to not be the case.

I started off as an Accenture graduate and it is one of the most challenging times of my life. The culture there is quite strong and being a big organisation, you really need to be proactive in order to advance your career. The types of projects are mostly implementation work which can be quite mundane. The work/life balance at the company is not quite right, they do ask staff to work ridiculous amounts of overtime and that is the expectation there, so often there is little appreciation of this. However, there does remain a lot of perks, the contacts you meet are fantastic and you get exposure to a global network. You work with some of the smartest people in the industry and there are loads of networking opportunities available.

Given the enormous challenges most companies suffer in a globalized world, working at Accenture allows me to help relieve and solve many obstacles they might come upon and improve.
There are several opportunities, but it requires a little bit of communication within the organization for its approval from transference between workforce.
Also, work-life balance might be compromised if the client you might be assigned to requires extensive hours of work (which is a common part of Accenture way of working and delivering good results).
Apart from these situations, it is fun to work and colleagues are great. Most clients are friendly, as this creates good project environment and a good relationship and interaction with them.

A typical day at work would begin with getting to work on time, meet and greet people.  Checking emails and prioritising. Checking the boss's calendar, answering emails, thinking ahead and sending out reminders and if in doubt ask the boss.

Answering phone calls and doing travel booking both domestic and international with hotel booking and transportation at both ends.  Ensuring his travel was hassle-free.

There is no job that is hard for an EA as long as I am  professionally challenged.


The most enjoyable part of the job is that I was a part of an excellent EA team which was very helpful and fun to be around with which made life stressfree.

Accenture has a flexible work schedule so you can go to work early enough to leave early. Technology is very diverse and depends on what project you are on. Management is not that good but by far average. Biggest problem is that most of your co-workers have lower than average technical skill level. Overtime on some projects for 5 months straight is one of the worst part, but is a case-to-case basis. Working with new technologies and a change of roles from time to time is the best part of working for this company.

I am experienced resource working in India presently for IBM Services. Have a working experience on SAP Basis and SAP Hana in my previous organization (ie) Accenture Services.

Typical day at work would be working out on issues and having flexibility to work from home or from office based on employee availability.
The hardest part of the job comes when the issue is not resolved and the system being the production system.
I have supported one of the largest banks in Australia at Sydney and worked on technical backend support system.
