Very poor management, very little to no support when issues are raised with HR and upper management.
Management will blame staff as the problem on poor performance but offer no assistance in store and will not listen to staff when complaints are brought up. 
No training for your position, especially if you're coming into management roles. 
Terrible processes when it comes to staff complaints and incidents between staff. 
The people who are managers don't deserve to be, very lazy and unsupportive of other team members and like to highlight the workplace hierarchy and make you feel less of a person and just a number for their bonuses.
Will refuse to give contracts for months even when performing the role for over 3 months. 



What is the best part of working at the company?
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Learnt a lot whilst working there. Had. Great team leader and Manager. Was sometimes fun setting up for events. Received staff discounts.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To be honest I did not find it stressful at all and I guess that was because of my role. The most stressful part was the traffic coming into work which was the reason I ended up leaving.

Multi cultured and a great vibe

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and a lot of walking which I enjoyed

Area managers provided only stress to management. Managers from other stores would dump complicated work on the casuals since all they cared about was making sales. The national manager of one the shoe companies is not a nice man and cares only about capitalism.
The good managers leave straight away since they get treated like rubbish.
Learn how to manage properly and you should care about the team than just your KPis, maybe you will be able to retain staff and make actual magic happen for once.

I worked across platypus and glue, both places were horrendous to work at. Culture is based on management and is almost always toxic in some form or the other, day to day things are simple if you aren’t in management. Once I became a manager I realised how much worse it could be, regionals breathe down your neck and make you feel terrible for not hitting unrealistic targets and kpis, they don’t care about the customer, they just want you to shove options down every single persons throat. 

It really depends on what you want from your career on if this is the place for you. If you’re very career focused and want to put your all into your work and move up the ladder you will succeed here. Super fast paced and very focused on results. 

A great company that can be very enjoyable to work for. You must have the stores best interest in mind for you to strive and expand within the company. The job holds lots of responsibility and not everyone can handle that. 

Started off as a great place to work. Managers in store were good and had lots of fun. Now there is so much pressure to sell sell sell when there are no customers to sell too. Store is dead however higher management questions why we don’t make money. Just overall frustrating. Working with the kids is great though and most of the team are super fun to work with.

I left this job and got a 15k raise with a competitor plus breaks and annual leave actually observed. Career advancement, safer and better store. Just no, vans etc is a dying breed.
