ADELAIDE FRINGE

As the Advertising Coordinator I work within the Marketing & Business Development Team, reporting to the Marketing Manager. In my first year within this role I worked within Corporate Partnerships, however as the role has developed it has joined the vibrant Marketing Team, as I work very closely with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure the delivery of Fringe 2016 marketing strategy. 

I am responsible for the sale of agreed allocated advertising space across the annual Adelaide Fringe guide, website, smart phone applications, and various properties. This requires reaching or exceeding the income target set from the sale of advertising space, whilst balancing the space required for artist event listings. In my role I am also responsible for the implementation of all sponsor advertisement commitments in relation to the Adelaide Fringe guide, website, smart phone application. 

I liaise and I am a main communication point for artists, venues and producers to ensure their advertisement is placed and marketed accurately, to ensure as much exposure as promised. I proof artwork and accurately place it throughout our 3 main platforms of advertising, i.e. Fringe Guide, online and smartphone. I create and and implement our advertising strategies internally and externally with clients based all over Australia. I have a target and budget to achieve and each year it is increased. After achieving budget and more in my first year, my 2nd year with Fringe I intend to do the exact same, sales being my strong point. 

Working with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinators to advertise our marketing concept and strategy for 2016 Fringe. The use of social media, print and signage to promote the wonderful festival.Also working together to advertise events on the run up to and throughout the festival.

I was made to feel very welcome in the workplace and established some great friendships and connections. Applicants can expect to be on their feet for long periods of time. My employees also checked up on me occasionally to ensure I was comfortable in the work environment. 

During the year that my co-workers and I worked in the Adelaide Fringe, we spent plenty of late nights/early mornings being dedicated to reaching our goals. We worked together as a team, but by the end, it felt more like a family as we stuck together after long hours and hard work.

A typical day included hanging up posters in the city and around the fringe area. I learned how to communicate with people more, the culture of the fringe was extremely different and amazing because of all different shows and people attending.

Good management, easy to talk to managers, good benefits and fair, opportunity to grow, help offered when it's needed, everyone is caring and willing to help

I worked at fringe first first week good hours then none them more then none. Not happy horrible conditions,and difficult people to work with. Roles constantly changing and different instructions given often. Treated like an idiot!

This volunteer role was amazing! The staff at Holden Street are incredible and as a volunteer you are allowed to see any theater shows you fancy which is a major plus.

They provide good training and guidance on how to do the expected job. 
Friendly and supportive staff and working environment with no harassment or impossible objectives. 

I got to work and meet new people every shift, see amazing shows and performances. basically why I have done it so many times, you can't resist the opportunity.

I would like to have had more hours, and given the chance I am capable to do more than what I was hired for. 
In short, I wasn't really given the opportunity to show my potential.
