I have worked for BP for a few months now and there's not much that stikes me as positive about the company. I work as a casual yet have permanent shifts meaning i don't get any benefits of working part-time, but get the joy of doing the same stuff every week without any time off.

I started this job because I needed work that was closer to home and flexible around my university schedule. I got a job that is close to home. As far as being flexible, it couldn't be further from that. I brought in my uni timetable to my manager 2 weeks before the semester was due to start and asked for my shifts to get reduced so I had time to do my studying. For the next 9 weeks straight I did 35 hours a week including overnight shifts and double shifts. I had no time to study and even missed some tutorials due to being overworked with no help. On more than 3 separate occasions I asked for a reduction in shifts and was ignored on all three occasions. Furthermore I'm fairly certain the manager was sexist as a few female staff with uni got whatever time they needed I.E. 1 shift a week whenever they asked for it, meanwhile I get hammered with 5 shifts a week mainly night or overnight shifts.

My second gripe with with their various forms of measuring performance. All measures of performance have to do with promotional sales. Essentially how good are you at wasting people's time, or ripping them off. As a customer I expect the best service to be quick and polite. I don't want to be asked a million questions when I just want to pay and get going. As a worker you get given a huge checklist to do over your shift. It rarely get checked and is never refered to as performance. Ive never worked for a company that cared less for its employees or customers. I don't see any redeeming features in the promotions especially considering they dictate your usefulness to the company. I think if BP stopped trying to use their employees as scapegoats and tried asking them what's wrong with the company they'd be able to improve their service far beyond any stupid promotions.

Just to sum up, this is the type of job you take if you've been looking for months and nothing is coming up. If there's the slightest chance of getting a job somewhere else, even another service station, take it. You're not going to find anything positive about your experience at BP.

Working with B.P. since 2010 has given me a vast experience into various field and had shown beauty of business which has made capable enough to stand in real world. 

The most typical day was Friday in 2011 (was by myself in store) and our system was down (wasn't working at all) and the biggest problem was we are not able to accept any bank cards transaction and i have to make it manually and on the same time unfortunately one customer drop 3 glass bottles of V drink and one 2 liter full cream milk bottle. (Plastic bag got slip from his hand)
At the time of training it was taught that safety come first. I put the sign board of caution and wet floor once and quickly remove glass particle from floor also i had spread a paper towel so that it can absorbed liquid and keep serving customer. Meanwhile, whenever I have chance i was keep moping floor as well. 
From this I learned that it very necessary to have presence of mind and stay calm because few customer doesn't understand your situation. May be because they are in rush or whatever. Its employee responsibility to stay calm.

Collogue came after 50-55 minutes and first thing he did was vacuumed, cleaning and moping. Later on we both were helping each other for serving customer and making store ready for business it was the time when i realized in team work its “more We and less I”

The hardest part it to control on myself as i love chocolates, chip and fast-food a lot initially it was very hard to and i had put on weight but latter i decided not eat anything from store and start carrying my lunch box. But still in once in week i do eat chocolates, nachos etc.

Any job doing in store has its own beauty and i enjoy that moment but the most enjoying moment is to help customer regardless age, gender, nationality etc and serving them equally. Like: - Solving customer problem to make customer satisfied that such situation will not be repeated again with him/her or with anyone else and right action will against the product/service and to make feel them secure and when such customer turn-up again into store for business that most enjoyable part for me.

Days were well balanced between diary management, expenses, travel and handling meeting logistics for 3 directors and assisting.other team members.  Management & colleagues trusted me to make decisions and respected my discretion and confidentiality.  My managers respected my organisational skills, my ability to work without supervision and for being proactive and resourceful.
I gained considerable experience in organising workshops, office moves and conferences and developed well-honed networking skills at all levels. 
While carrying out my role I became conscious of the importance of Health & Safety within the workplace and  became responsible for the new joiners and the safety induction programme.
BP encouraged learning and I took advantage of the opportunities.
I thrive under pressure, maintaining a consistent focus on providing a quality service by encouraging engagement and building rapport through establishing trust and mutual respect.
I gained extensive experience at BP of a multi-national matrix organisation with an understanding of corporate processes, reporting and procedures and the requirements and objectives of my client groups.
The hardest part of my job was finding rooms for conferences and workshops once we were no longer able to look outside.
The best part of my job was being appreciated for a job well done.
I opted to take a redundancy package at end of 2015.

Depending on the shift you work, each shift is different. You will be taught how to do each aspect of your job hands on and other workers will always teach you new tricks and answer any questions if needed. It is definitely team focused you have goals to try and achieve and always help each other try and reach the quota. You serve customers if on the till and offer current promotions and them a rewards card. If doing a night/ graveyard shift it involves serving customers (which there is generally nowhere near as many as daytime), clean & mop, restock shelves, restock the frozen food for the next day (night time no deep fried food is cooked), restock pies and cook when needed, clean bathrooms, wash up anything from the hot food display as you turn it off at night, prepare toasties for the next worker on graveyard. Management is great they are always there to help and very encouraging. The diversity of customers is great and each day is different, you make new friends and learn the regular customers. Most enjoyable is meeting team goals and talking to new people and great workers.

I had the opportunity to work at BP Petroleum in Melbourne, and I can confidently say that it was a very positive experience. The overall work environment was exceptional, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The company culture fostered a sense of teamwork and collaboration, which made it a pleasure to be a part of the team.

The management at BP Petroleum was supportive and encouraging, always ensuring that employees had the resources and guidance they needed to succeed. I appreciated the open communication channels that allowed for effective feedback and problem-solving.

Furthermore, the job itself was fulfilling and engaging. I had the chance to work on diverse projects and tasks, which helped me develop new skills and expand my knowledge in the industry. The work-life balance at BP Petroleum was also commendable, as the company emphasized the well-being of its employees.

Overall, I would highly recommend working at BP Petroleum in Melbourne. It is a company that values its employees and provides a stimulating and rewarding work environment. I am grateful for the experience I gained during my time there and would gladly return in the future.

I would have to agree with the other review of this BP site. If you are hired here prepare to not have enough training and support from management! You wonder if your doing your job properly as you don't get any feed back. Then one day you get called into the office and terminated with little to no reason or you are terminated for something trivial, that you were never given a chance to fix because you always thought you were doing the right thing! It seems that they will make any excuse to fire or force out older staff, so they can make way for cheaper younger staff, as if they didn't make enough as it is! Not a very good place to work!! Please note this is a franchise so I can't speak for other sites run by BP

I learned about the Australian culture how people live, what they like, how to communicate with them, how to act for their best satisfaction. 
I also learned how the business runs.
My management was good because it was a private company, they used to be very professionals at time and like a family sometimes.
Talking about my co-workers, everyone was good but sometimes there was difficulties to manage the roaster for the management. The hardest part of the job was To satisfy the customer together with the owners because sometimes customer forget their wallets and customer want to pay the next day and the management wants us to not let them go without paying. The enjoyable part is to serve customer and make them smile,

•	Cash handling :Receive goods selected by the customer and operate cash registers 
•	Talk with other staff where there is doubt about a particular price 
•	Receive payment for goods from customers and provide change as shown by the electronic cash register 
•	Price items with a price gun and rotate stock by bringing the old stock forward on the shelves during quieter times 
•	Process payment for accounts such as telephone or electricity bills and issue receipts 
•	Keep records of amounts received and paid, and regularly check the cash balance against this record 
•	Working with the team members to ensure Excellent Execution Every time of all policies and procedures. 
•	To monitor and maintain specified business controls.

Such a shame, was a great little place to work while studying but unfortunately the company hires incapable children in higher management who like to play "big boss" with everyone. 
general workers are treated very poorly, despite their education and experience. 

Don't work here if you want a professional work place. They do not do things by the book. Waste so much food its horrendous, blame staff constantly for missing things and watch CCTV everyday. 

They also don't do background checks on management either, I had an ice junky assisting management in my store and non of them noticed.
