I was never even told I got the job until they called me one random afternoon asking why my employment paperwork (TFN, Supa, etc) was late. Maybe tell me about it first?

First shift: Employer never told the manager I was coming in. No uniform was left, no schedule, nothing. I was left in the backroom for close to an hour until they felt like 'training' me. I was then dumped taking drive thru orders and payments about a menu I had no idea about, during peak hour. Then when I was 'too slow' (no wonder why) I was dumped on food. Food, I yet again, had no idea how to make, in the middle of a rush. The team here is not friendly, they make any excuse to have a go at you and never offer a hand. You're expected to handle all 3-4 merrychefs, take payments from drive thru, and make the food too, without any help from the baristas who spend most of their time glaring at you while you work.

When it finally dies down, the team will stand in a corner and chat for hours while you're dumped with food prep for items you haven't had the training to make and cleaning duties you haven't been told their very specific procedure for, for hours. I couldn't even ask for help without copping a mouthful from the baristas.

I ended up leaving after a few months, wasn't even given my uniform until my last week.

Good things first — most coworkers are nice and friendly. You can make your own coffee, and a lot of the customers are nice and friendly as well. That’s about it.
Bad things — management is often immature, petty, condescending, and inappropriate. They don’t care about staff, expect you to work outside of work hours, do more than your own role, and make up for higher-paying positions without any extra pay. They’re super stingy and barely let you have your “free drink” per shift. You’ll be lucky if you get any training at all, let alone decent training.
As of now, they’re expecting employees to do homework for their certificates — unpaid and outside of work, of course. Forget “the perfect cup of coffee every time” — they only care about bump time. Micromanagement is actually their true goal.
Shifts are very inconsistent, and rosters are often sent out late. If you give someone in management a bad impression, you can end up with zero shifts. They’re generally egotistical, passive-aggressive, and condescending. And God forbid you overwork yourself and do everything they ask — they’ll still treat you terribly. Never work here.

As such, addressing the perception of overpriced coffee could be pivotal in maintaining its market share and sustaining customer loyalty in the long run.

It was great at first, you make great work mates and become friends with a few regulars. Training was horrible, your mates end up showing you what to do rather than the owners properly training you. we were promised to become zarraffas qualified baristas within 6 months, but it took 11 because of their horrible time management. Owners were great at first until they became stingy and straight up disrespectful. if you do something they don't like, prepare to have your shifts cut and be treated horribly. N/A-ing was difficult and they would have a problem if you asked to change your availabilities or bring up your mental health being in the gutter. they expect you to revolve around work if you get promoted to supervisor. if you care about your wellbeing and mental health, do not work here. keep your head up Lovleys!

A typical day at work for a junior trainee was to wipe down tables and mop and sweep floors, making and preparing food, making and preparing both hot and cold beverages, washing up and putting things away, dealing with customers and retrieving things from the store room. I personally did not agree with how the owners of a specific store treated some of their staff members regarding not being able to work due to school/study or having to attend urgent doctor appointments. It is a fast paced job and you need to be alert and have great time management skills. I personally found it to be a negative environment for a junior trainee from my personal experience at a specific store. The best part of the job was making your own drink free of charge for your lunch break and the least enjoyable part was staff members.

I worked here as a supervisor for 4 years. I enjoyed coming to work every shift, got along well with my team. The customers were usually regulars and also great for a chat.
The only downside was upper management. Although they expected you as the supervisor to stand up and run your shift your way. They would often come in and take over, moving staff around to other areas of the store so they could work alongside their favourite people. This would cause headaches and ruin the flow of the shift which in turn, made me look bad and I was usually scolded by management for it.
Training when I first started was pretty poor too. Luckily I had previous experience to fall back on when I needed to BS my way through selling bulk beans which I knew nothing about.

Although some co-workers are great, the overall culture is unhealthy and unsupportive. Management frequently acts superior, taking opportunities to belittle staff and make them feel inadequate. Combined with micromanagement, favoritism, and lack of respect for employees’ time, the workplace becomes toxic and demoralizing. This is not a professional or positive environment for growth

Honestly, at first it was a very enjoyable job and you get to make a lot of friends with your co workers and regulars. But the tasks you are allocated to complete within certain time frames on top of having such a fast paced workplace is just ridiculous. Had more than a few workplace health and safety incidents where ambulances were even called and management did nothing about them. Which is illegal and so unprofessional, also when staff are having issues at work and it’s brought to management, be ready to have nothing done about it and get your hours cut for speaking up.
Yeah lol don’t work for Zarraffas if you wanna keep your mental health game strong queens and kings.

When I was there, the owners ran four Z-raffs at a time and shared staff between all four. Great right? Lots of work? NO. What they failed to tell anyone was that each shift worked at a store other than your 'primary' one was taxed as a 2nd/3rd/4th job. Fantastic hustle when employing a bunch of kids who either don't understand, or are  to  scared to speak up. 
And when management inevitably decided to get rid of someone they simply cut their hours until the employee is forced to resign.
Can be very fun depending on the workteam, but be vary wary if they try to give you 'extra shifts' at a sister-store.

I was hired before Christmas and told I would receiver between 25-30 hours a week with training on register and espresso machine to be included. For two months I was given 4-8 hours a week constantly being told I would be getting more hours and training. Finally after two months I did not receive a roster in my email and when I went to work I asked about this and they had me work my shift and then told me I was out because they did not have available hours and wanted to keep the younger staff which were cheaper and staff that had been there longer. Would not have been such a big deal if they had been up front with me from the get go.
