A typical day at work with YNA Adelaide is fast-paced and unpredictable, depending on where you're sent. You might be in hospitals, aged care facilities, or community settings, and you need to be ready to hit the ground running. Each shift is different, which keeps things interesting.

Since working with YNA, I’ve learned how to adapt quickly, stay calm under pressure, and manage a wide variety of clinical situations. You become confident working independently and develop strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Management is generally responsive and supportive. The allocations team tries their best to offer shifts that suit your availability and preferences. They’re approachable and will usually follow up if there’s ever an issue.

The workplace culture is flexible and independent. You work alone most of the time, but there’s a sense of trust in your skills. You're treated as a professional, and that autonomy is appreciated. You're also encouraged to communicate openly with the agency.

The hardest part of the job is constantly adjusting to new environments and expectations. Some facilities are short-staffed or have unclear procedures, which can be challenging when you're new to a site or working solo.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the flexibility and the variety. You choose when and where you work, which gives you a great work-life balance. It’s also rewarding to know you’re helping facilities during critical times, and your contribution is valued.

Overall, YNA is a great agency to work for if you’re experienced, independent, and looking for flexibility in your nursing or care career .

Autonomy and flexibility to work a desired balance.

An absolute lack of shifts and seems to be no appreciation for the RNs 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Generally poor currently. There used to be a positive team atmosphere although that has slowly diminished.  RNs often state they feel like a stranger as an employee. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The clients / facilities are always fantastic, unfortunately no.to little support from coordinators.

It’s okay if you can adapt quickly to new environment. Paid rates are great.
No managerial support or career development provided.
Owner of YNA nursing agency has near to no compassion or care towards employees. 
HMNS which was bought out by YNA was a beautiful agency with nurses who worked for nurses. HMNS has supportive managerial staff and plenty of time would be found if you needed a chat. 
Was very disappointed to move from HMNS to YNA as it changed to become a large & fairly cold business model.


What is the best part of working at the company?
Allocations staff are great, understanding. Head of staff are amazing and really down to earth.

Last minute changes to ward allocation.

Easy going, understanding. Offers of assistance when needed.

Busy, but full support only a call away.

the unreliability, not knowing when I'll be called next

hopfully getting called the day before going to work and having a mostly pleasant shift

I am extremely satisfied with the opportunities I get to work and the team is very encouraging and supportive providing options for our work. The work place is good, hardest part is getting the job staying on app, but other than that everything else is good

Always greeted with a warm smile from staff and residents. Management from different facilities were very friendly, Staff from various facilities were multi cultural and very friendly working as a team with good communication skills. I taught staff how to do personal cares in a better way along with teaching them particularly on dealing with Dementia residents.

Merged from purchasing out the smaller nursing agencies with staffing contracts to the government healthcare sites. YNA bought out reputable and friendly agencies like HMNS. Lost the previous compassion & approachability the smaller agencies had been so long delivering of. 
YNA is about the cold hard drive and money making capacity; not much but the second choice in light of industry competition

At the start, I got plenty of shifts, was able to work the whole week. However, recently they don’t allocate enough shifts for me, and I got shifts canceled so often that makes me annoyed (Probably it’s from hospital’s ends, I heard other agency can secure your shift as they’re bigger agency). Most of allocators are super helpful and proactive, only one or two of them are rude when you genuinely ask for help :( 

The work environment isn’t very welcoming, full of catty competitive behaviour and management have favourites. The managers only ever gave negative feedback, and didn’t communicate any work performance issues before they started cutting hours.  The office space is shared, and you aren’t provided your own headset so you have to use the same phones/desks as everyone else
