Yarra Valley Water

After a two-week intensive training, being placed on the phones felt like being thrown into the deep end. I was wonderfully supported by my team members, but not by the manager themselves! While I enjoyed the people I worked with, and the work itself was not overly taxing, the constant pressure and negative feedback from my immediate manager saw me resigning shortly. Great place to work, perhaps in a different team though!

Some key leaders who despite having no domain knowledge thinking they understood and could run certain functions and would not take onboard advice or other opinions, leading to inertia and poor decisions 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Highly siloed and lacking in transparency, a lot of politicians. But plenty of people trying hard with good will

Yarra provides you with a great opportunity to WFH and to come into the office on occasion . The work is busy and abundant which helps the working day fly by.   There is a lot to learn and customer enquires can be complex.  There is a lot of support from managers and other areas of the business for new starters but they do tend to micro manage and there is a high expectation to to meet KPI targets quite quickly.

Always encouraged to make suggestions/improvements, lots of support.
Very friendly team members, onsite canteen,free parking.Sometimes management slow in making decisions regarding changes probably the hardest part.

For the work that was needed to be done the odd hard caller was well worth being their given the pay and the workspace, everyone made sure to make me feel welcome and that i had a good experience regardless of how long i had been there and how long i was planning on staying there

Was there for 1 week and because l was struggling was let go after 5 days. Was promised the world and was we will help you in anyway. That is not the fase if you are not up to scratch and strugglig they will get rid if. Not a nice place to work for.

The workplace was very encouraging and supportive of you. Never felt like I was excluded in any events or things we've done. 

Only issue was scheduling a meeting with the manager can often be troublesome especially during COVID.

Good - life work balance, some collegues are helpful and WFH available, bad - no clear guidance from management, new skill learning is hard to get, budget control ever though the company make profit 

I was a water meter reader for 5 yrs and had no problems at all

I wish I could get my job back in Traralgon I live now.  Great bunch of people.   U got your work sent to u for next day. Hardly went to office

Working at Yarra Valley Water has been great. The culture is amazing and the rotation program for engineers provides them with a way to constantly keep learning.
