Scientists and researchers deal in projects that are hard for the majority of the population to understand. As such, they think differently creating a division between scientists and the individual.

This separation can easily be seen in the form with jokes as a number of jokes researchers make are context based e.g what do you call a benzene ring with irons replacing the carbons... a ferrous wheel.

while its fun poking at their distinct sense of humor, these people are dedicated to a fault. This caused me to work from 8am - 6pm on a regular basis however, it was a never a dull moment as i was always learning and contributing to the experiments. It was enjoyable, with work varying from lab work to report writing and the co-workers were always there to explain a concept.

Scientific procedures are very detailed and a slight mistake ( wrong sample dilution) can alter the results causing a void experiment. Initially, i made a number of mistakes due to my lack of attention but as i progressed and learned from experiment to experiment, certain procedures and techniques were remembered. By the end of it, procedures can be easily conducted based off muscle memory.

I did my work experience at UWS CAMPBELLTOWN  for three months only. A typical day at UWS was: 
Most of the time I was working at returns and discharge items. I work at the circulation desk were I helped patrons to find information and lend items, I had to fill the photocopiers, returned items to their respective locations (shelving), update manuals (Law filing) 
I was not paid as it was work experience only.
The hardest part of the job was not having the opportunity to learn other things that I had learn at TAFE, however I attended a few times to the "Training students to find information", run by the liaison teacher librarians, something that  was also a part of my studies. I really enjoyed those meetings. I learned a lot from them and the teachers were excellent. 

I did not had a lot of work as I had at CAMPBELLTOWN TAFE that is because at TAFE most of the staff are librarian technicians while at University most of the staff are Librarians, Liaison Librarians and Teachers Librarians.

I am lucky to had the chance to do my work experience there.

Typically I spent a lot of time responding to inbound calls and emails resolving issues, I needed to be consistent, hardworking and manage my time effectively to get all tasks done within a prescribed amount of time. 

I had to manage myself as my direct superior was stationed on another campus across Sydney.

My co-workers and I developed a strong relationship, we all looked out for each other and offered help and assistant when we could, we developed a good friendship and strong working culture that was beneficial to the environment.

The most enjoyable part of my job was the satisfaction you felt when you completed you tasks on time and to a high standard, ensuring all stakeholders were happy. It was a great feeling to know you were helping and furthering someone else's education and future career prospects

As a student working for Western Sydney University was a great experience. The working times were flexible so if there were classes or exams we just had to let the employers know that we were not available at the time.

The work culture was great! There we were all students that were studying at Western Sydney University, but we were all at different stages of our degrees. Everyone was bubbly and passionate about what they were doing, which made it fun to work there. 

While working at Western Sydney University I enhanced my teamwork and communication skills.

Western Sydney University (WSU) creates a prodigious environment for students to balance study, work and social life. Each class is full of energy and fails to provide an unfulfilling atmosphere through lack of learning. Each class has courageous teachers who stretch beyond their limits to ensure each student is satisfied and understands the course topic. Within every lecture, it is a guarantee that each invidiual will learn something unique that was not known before. Each day is a new, exciting, postivie day and it is one of the best Western Sydney universities I have attended and researched about.

It is rewarding to work in an environment of concentrated learning across a wide range of academic disciplines, supporting students to get the most out of lectures and tutorials, and helping lessen inequity of opportunity. This workplace is a constantly growing, developing sector.  The student body is very multicultural, and this brings with it a need for greater cultural awareness and sensitivity - for this reason, it can be a challenging, as well as stimulating,  environment, as the mind broadens and assumptions are challenged. Students have made it here through sheer determination, and do not take their opportunities for granted.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The location. Quite, greeny, beautiful and peaceful campus

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I was just new in the job and on training then pandemic hits & urgently needed to work from home which was a shock from all of us.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is disgusting.  My supervisor was not supportive, no collaboration from other HR Teams. One of my team members treated me unfairly specially during pandemic time.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A during payroll cut off where everyone has to complete the task within the given timeframe.

In the brief time at the University, my day included largely listening to staff and students as they share their personal and professional concerns. I also offered some group meetings for staff and students that would include liturgical celebrations as well as growth groups and Bible studies. The chaplaincy Team worked together well and enjoyed professional and social contacts. Te hardest part is the short time that I was there and I didn't have time to form significant working relationships. The most enjoyable part is when I saw students advancing in knowledge and wisdom and growing personally and professionally.

I work with a team of people employed to support young and mature aged learners. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are supported with their entry into university and throughout the term of their course.

All students receive direct support from Indigenous Student Service Officers to gain a positive experience into education. Students have an opportunity to get support from tutors and other professional people in the field of their study.

I manage the Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education out of the Parramatta campus.

Most environments were productive and stimulating especially when working with students from more exclusive faculties eg Medicine. Never found the work very difficult and always attempted to get published research done. Relationship with management depended upon style of leadership employed. Ditto for workplace culture. Research and publications are the most rewarding parts of academic emploi. Hardest part is doing repetitive classes with very young students.
