Working at Vinnies was an absolute joy. From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt like part of a close-knit family dedicated to a noble cause. The sense of camaraderie among staff and volunteers was palpable, making each day feel like a rewarding journey. The opportunity to contribute to the community through various charitable initiatives was incredibly fulfilling, and witnessing the direct impact of our efforts on those in need was truly heartwarming. 

Moreover, the organizational culture at Vinnies fostered growth and personal development, providing ample opportunities for learning and skill enhancement. The management was supportive and approachable, always encouraging us to strive for excellence while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Overall, my experience at Vinnies was nothing short of exceptional, and I am grateful for the invaluable memories and friendships forged during my time there. I wholeheartedly recommend Vinnies as a workplace for anyone passionate about making a positive difference in the world.

On a typical day two other workers and I would receive donations from the public which need to be sorted, valued, and stored. About midday a truck would come which we would load the sorted donations on to. When I started there had recently been a management change which upset some of the senior workers and long time volunteers, however I was not affected and encountered no problems with management or other workers. The work environment was generally friendly. The hardest part of the job was working in the heat, but breaks made this bearable. The most enjoyable part of the position was sorting through donations, people donated some interesting things and discussing these with other workers made interaction easy and fun.

Everyone at vinnies is lovely and they explain your tasks in the right way so you understand and its really enjoyable. The hardest part of the job was going through the clothes on the racks because your arms get very tired from lifting up so much.

I started working there for the dole and when my contract was over I decide to stay and volunteer.
when I first turned up we had a meeting for us new people bout the rules then us new people got sent home till our starting date.
I got promoted to different stations I first started as a first packer which is where you sort dirty to clean, broken to not broken. the follow week I got moved to second packer which is where you short the clean clothes from first packer for witch clothes goes to what store. Then the week after that I got promoted to printing all the price tags out and rolling them up ready to go to the stores I was help the floor boss do all the orders.

A typical day at Vinnies is never boring. The store receives bags and boxes of donations all the time. It is always fun to sort through the items and prepare them for sale. Teamwork is a big part of Vinnies. The staff and volunteers are generous with their time and approachable. The hardest part of the job was travelling to work via public transport. I live more than hour away from Vinnies. The most enjoyable part was working together. Sometimes the shop would have many donated items and there was a big workload. As a team everything was completed. 

A typical day involved helping out with a variety of tasks like sorting items, keeping things organised, and assisting where needed. I learned how to work as part of a team, manage my time better, and communicate clearly in a workplace setting. Management was approachable and always willing to help or explain tasks, which made the work environment comfortable. The workplace culture was friendly and supportive, and everyone worked together to get things done. The hardest part was staying on top of tasks during busy periods, but the most enjoyable part was feeling productive and knowing I was contributing to something worthwhile.

I have volunteered at Vinnies for over 3 years and loved the time there and the people and customers.Recently we were asked what we thought of the changes being made,we said we thought prices were getting to high and not showing sizing was detrimental to our takings.We were told in no uncertain terms our opinions did not matter,the next morning we received a phone call telling us we were no longer wanted there or at any other Vinnies shop.Disgusting way to treat people.

I work out in the shop- Cashier,point of sales ,i also sort and price the stock at times, or do cleaning and tiding of the selves , vacuum  the floors. The Manager and Assistant Manager are both friendly ,heplfull easy to approach and to talk to.Everyone is a team player. Willing to hear your inputs .am able to change any displays in the windows or selves,to make it look better and for safety. I don,t have a hard part of the job. I love the fact that am given respect and the responsibility to help with training the new volunteers as this to me shows how much trust and appreciate as part of the team.

What is the best part of working at the company?
meeting regular and new shoppers the co workers are friendly and relaxed.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
on quiet days time passes slowly however I have not experienced stress as I am not in management

easy going with a focus on being customer centric

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
quite typical ,get there in the morning sweep the floor do stock control and serve customers

I learnt pretty much everything about this job, how to tidy up the clothes by color, by type of clothes. how to hang them, I steamed them, selected the clothes to be sold and the ones to be dispatched in another shop. I also took care of the small library for adult and for kids and cleaned the brick-a-brack, I also priced the clothes and the shoes. Enjoyed finding a selection of clothes for the week by style and color. Had good relations with collegues in general.
