As a veteran of Veolia I am look upon by my new recruits for the day as Veolia recruits from Skilled contract staff for us to use in any one day , any particular day starts at 7am and usually informed the day prior could be cleaning a furnace, cleaning out a industrial fat deep fryer at Simplot ,putting in a power pole where we assist with the sucking of water ,cleaning a hazardous material on the wharf if a ship is in port unloading ,going under ground to pump ,using the vacuum truck to suck up sludge and slurry, which is one of my favourite parts of my employment, I love being under ground 
I have two managers above me which I liaise with on a regular bases, meaning I receive all my places to go to from the leading hand and regular phone calls from both, mostly 3-4 times daily , I have a great lot of co-worker ,never usually having any problems, never have to instruct a regular worker as a team of two we know what has to happen and we stick to time restraints, the hardest part of my job at present is showing Skilled employees the new task at hand as we have time restraints and jobs need to be finished on time.
The greatest  enjoyment with my job is its very hazardous the heavy machinery and heavy equipment is the be a sticker for O.H.&H and that both the workers and the machinery in which we work with comes out without incident.

My role here occurred during the construction, commissioning and first 6 months of operation of a new plant. As a result everyone was on new ground, and that lead to a great atmosphere of mutual learning from each other. The boss often shouted lunch, or we had a BBQ on site.

While my role was a stable 8-4, most of the team took turns at being on call, hence I couldn't give 5 stars for Work/Life Balance, but this is the nature of a plant that can't be easily shut down and restarted. It was better, I'm sure, than most in that Veolia arranged remote monitoring so the staff could monitor the plant from home, as long as they lived close enough to come in if things went wrong.

Pay was reasonable for me as a contractor (through a labour hire company), but the permanent staff were paid extremely well.

The poor job security was based not only on my being on a fixed term contract (even though it was extended repeatedly) but because there were widespread layoffs throughout the organisation when the drought broke and many plants went from an operational phase to a non-operational, minimal maintenance phase.

I really needed money so spent 2 years driving faulty dangerous trucks doing dangerous non compliant works to meet managements numbers so they can get their bonuses.

The DVR is a joke, the hazard reporting even funnier.
Everyone from the VOL team and upwards has been trained to dump blame on the operators.

They push you to utilize unsafe work practices in unsafe equipment and when things go wrong they blame you saying you shouldn't have done the job.

Veolia has a $3000 damage threshold,  regardless if the accident or incident was your fault or not and the damage bill exceeds $3000 its a guaranteed written warning for the operator that started the key.

Because of the workplace ethos colleagues will say all the right things to your face but stab you in the back without hesitation just to keep their jobs.

Avoid Veolia at all cost unless needing a financial stepping stone until another job comes along.

A typical day at my work  is manage the Sales Force input, handle our shared inboxes with queries from customer, Area Sales Managers and VES management, liaise with other departments to resolve issues promptly either over the phone or via email.

I have learned a lot about Waste Management, sustainability, employee’s fairness at work place, occupational Health Safe and much more.

The management is polity.

Most of my co-workers are helpful and amicable.

The hardest part of the job is end of the month rush.

The most enjoyable part of my job is that the majority of my co-workers are polity and fun to work with.
 I love my job however work close to home would be more pleasant.

Safety and procedures were the most important lesson's leant over the journey.
The management were not approachable, put processes into place without discussing the short comings with the scaffold management team
Hardest part of the job was trying to adapt there systems into the way we did things as there were a waiste company and us a scaffold company
The most enjoyable part of the job was the challange of quoting and designing the job, then chasing the work, putting safe systems into place so we erected the project safety and met the demands of the client.
90% of the workers were good with the emaining 10% causing most of the problems
The worst part of the job was chasing the money for the job

After working for Veolia- waste management, i most definitely will never look at a bin the same again, there are so many different sorts, and for different things which makes it important that work and bookings were correct as one person's error can lead to another 5 other error error ultimately then the driver in turn the customer. 
But we all make mistakes as its a very involved job, which was all so very new to me, but found it extremely interesting as was something always new popping up, and the support if made a error was always constructive criticism and spent time with you to help teach you how to fix error or avoid for the future.

The hours are long, but the pay is good especially for FIFO workers. Learned alot through this job,gained many certificates and knowledge within the mining industry, the management is pretty good. If need be, they always try and work around me and my family, most co workers I get on well with, the rest are never there long enough to get to know. The best time of the day would be finishing time and when I'm on that plane heading back to my family in the south west, the hardest part of the day is getting out of my bed and when we get no breaks for over 8 hours.

The working relationship between departments is almost war like. There is little to no respect between operating departments within the company and the culture is destructive - focusing on individuals and departments who don't perform in a fix it or get out focus.
management have surface qualities the are completely false, they focus on looking good in the community and to external clients whilst using the hammer and fist analogy when dealing with staff - there is a boys club mentality in middle management that defy's belief

Responsiblility for safety of men working in confined space a priority.( my job)
They follow all policies and procedures "to the letter".
Working for a client focussed, employee responsible company a very satisfying experience
Veolia has systems and procedures in place to make continual quality improvement.
Their pay and working conditions are one of the best I have encountered in my 30 year working career.
They do not tollerate any sexual harrasment or bullying of any kind.
