What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 All of the permits the paper work and time running around to get them signed off and approved but this process ensures for instance that the rest of sites knows we have a drop zone or that we are conducting hot work above so no matter how tedious we may think it is at the time in the bigger picture we are leasing with other work crews and getting approval from our superiors to ensure everyone is aware of the task at hand and that we all go home as we came safe and sound

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I worked for UGL at RGP5 Finucane Island  and also work at Nelson Point , After a year in Port Hedland I spent 18months at The SINO IRON ORE Project at Cape Preston working in all areas of the Desalination Plant.Next project was 12months in Newman installing new conveyor lines for the BHP JIMBLEBAR Project.Followed by 6months at  Darwin Index gas project.I found the enviroment and culture at the company are what you yourself make of it you can be accountable for your actions and be positive work safe work hard and go back to camp feeling a sense of achievement or you can be negative and nothing you say or do will change the way you feel because your mind deep down is made up.All I can say is there is some wonderful people co workers that would go out of there way to help you if your struggling along as you have the right attitude and than there is the co workers who just can't wait for rdo and r&r and can slowly drag you down with them if you let them.There is also some amazing Supervisors -Super Intendants Construction managers who are down to earth and appreciate the effort you put in.I found it great and I learnt so much.Even more so know looking back at realising all the things I would do different and all the advice and knowledge I would of taken onboard

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wake early at camp shower change than head to dry mess to have breakfast and collect lunch and fruit and snacks for the day.than head to buses to site.arrive at site put lunch in fridge fill water bottles , go to your crews area for prestart meetings where any hazards  are raised and work teams and tasks are allocated  for the day.morning stretches breathes or swabs randomly sometimes D&A urinalysis 
Permits handed out than to stores to collect equipment for task  , depending on task could be drop zone barricading hot works barricading grid mesh removal permit get all permits signed and approved lease with other crews in area.makesure you have you work area encapsulated with fireblankets have a fire extinguisher in the immediate vicinity in working order and tagged within date , check all your equipment if anything is damaged swap out after putting an out of service tag on the piece of equipment and return to stores.once given approval start task and be mindful of others in the area and that your spotter is vigilant

Manufacturing safety:
 
Sole responsibility for OH&S management matters for the each shift (alternative day and night shift)
	Client/Contractor liaison/Visitor
	Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Management.
	Paint Shop Work cover compliance.
	Procedure Development and Review.
	Accident/Incident investigations,
	Site Auditing, Audit Report Writing, Updating and entering training records,
	Analyzing of data for future training sessions,
	Conducting Work Activity Inductions in line with Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Work Health & Safety Regulation and Code of Practice.
	Develop quality in-house training as identified to the industry standards & relevant to the company requirements.
	Reviewing Risk Assessments to identify areas employees require specific training and development to the task required of them.

Good Team to work for
APLNG/Curtis Island Gas Project
Construction of APLNG Gas Flares with continuation of contract seconded to Bechtel to assist work scope through to Commissioning and Plant Operations. 
o	Works include Simultaneous Operations of Structural, Mechanical & Piping Construction, Pneumatic & Hydro Testing, Shut down to conduct remedial works.
o	Designated PTW coordinator to safely manage high risk tasks from Hot Tap procedure, Work at Heights, Confined Space Entry and working over water/Jetty operations.
o	Conducted daily pay sheets, weekly client meetings, internal & external monthly HSE reporting

I started off in Admin, was later promoted to contracts working on the payphone contract, from there promoted to capital works and from there promoted to Facility Management all within the same contract.
Workplace culture very diverse which is great.
The hardest part of the job was saying goodbye when we lost the contract after 10 years and I was made redundant.
The most enjoyable part was I loved every minute of my job and the shareholders I dealt with within the contract. I was very proud of what I achieved.

UGL doesn't respect the people they have working for them, if you do a good job they bleed you dry, how you are treated is dependant on the Manager you have.  I am a team builder, I build a good culture and work ethic in my team, I also ensure I involve my people and look after my people, when I move roles my people always ask if they can come, I am described as hard but fair.  I on the other hand have had over 10 Managers in 8 years with UGL, some better than others, I am was lucky that I get results and because of this, all of my Managers have left me alone to get the job done.
UGL have all the structure and policies but they don't walk the talk.

What is the best part of working at the company?
there are SOME decent supervisors.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If you leave yuor brain at the gate there will be litte stress, if you try to think ahead and set yourself up for success then you will have a stressful day.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Little equipment, plenty of muppets.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Like a visit to the circus.  Clowns to the left and clowns to the right.

i was employed to instigate a Indigenous engagement strategy on the east coast business. I was into my 3rd year of employment when UGL was acquired by the CIMIC group and wholesale restructuring took place throughout the organisation. Unfortunately my role was not required.

A Great place to work a lot of team comrardery all the jobs I was involved in were run well the ones I personally controlled all finished on time & on budget   All in all a very good company to work for

You learn new trade skills in the industry,management listen and put you first,you meet all kinds of people and nationalities also get to work with the indigenous people,the hardest part is been away from family,the most enjoyable part is seeing more of austrailia.

Aligning the gas compressors required constant liaising with the engineering department who were most helpful. The supervisors were good and well organised which the working day easy and less stressful.
