I worked at jolly miller for 4 months, working incredibly hard, learning faster than anyone else and putting work above anything else in my life - coming in when they needed, travelling to other Jolly Miller's over 30 minutes away, etc. The owner/managers generate a fear based workplace, where you watch everyone around you get fired and wait until eventually it's you. They constantly critique you and lower your morale, never acknowledging any hard work or sacrifice. There is no value. The rest of the employees are incredibly lovely but the terrible treatment by mangers makes it a unpleasant and substandard place to work. Do not bother applying here as you will not last.

Once I started work as a driver for jolly miller I got notice that they aren’t honest and wants me to work for them in lowest salary just for couple of weeks so when they got 2 new drivers I knew I’m gonna leave so that’s why I kept applying jobs in somewhere else to I not be the loser which is I did exactly the same things also they did treat me the same way I was expecting, I’m so happy cause in first week I told them you guys are after drivers so please let me know if you wanna me to work permanently or just for short period and all I heard back : no why we should that to you ! But I knew they’ lying so I did what I needed to be so I’m out of that disaster place with sneaky management a

You get overworked and micromanaged to a point where you’re contacted excessively even on your days off. There are no incentives for hard work unless you count getting more responsibilities as an incentive. 

The core team I worked with is amazing unfortunately due to poor management the environment is very hostile and toxic.

When you’re doing great  it’s not noted or appreciated however higher management seem to try and put you against your peers.


Would not recommend working at this place, even on my worst enemy.

I work here a few months before COVID hit and because my “probation”, was never told I had a probation period and never signed a contract for it, was coming to an end, they ended up terminating me with no valid reason.
They have no respect for the employees that actually do work and dismiss work place bullying. Management is poor as they never get back to you when you call or email them and will favourite individuals (just because they can make coffees).

Working at The Jolly Miller Cafe was such an experience, it was my first fast pace job where time management was crucial and communication was 100% key. I applied for The Jolly Miller while I was undertaking my certificate 3 in catering operations at VU. 
I learnt how to prepare food, cook food, clean, set up and pack up, order, manage cash and buy food for the cafe. 
The Jolly Miller was a fun working environment, everyone there was kind and incredibly helpful.

Literally a perfect environment however pay for their younger staff can be improved. 

The managers and supervisors are friendly, nice aesthetic atmosphere and attracts mostly friendly customers. Although, full training for employees was not a priority in my experience. I kinda was just thrown in a busy cafe without much guidance. But managers really do care about employees and their self development.

Working at the jolly miller cafe was a very fun experience for me i worked with a range of talented people and gained a lot of experience during my time there.
Within 5 months of working there i gained a position as a second in charge and it was a pleasure.
I had a really fun time working there

Expected to work long hours with no proper breaks, expections way to high with no thanks. No parking for staff, so on street parking to share with dozens of other businesses.

-lack of communication from management to employees
-Used my leave time without my consent, and also didn't pay for some of my hours/shifts.
-really really really poor communication
-expected to learn quickly when only given a couple shifts a week
-Got off boarded with no communication/notice/email/contact.

It was fantastic working there, the manager likes to have a joke around on the job, the food that is sold at the cafe is amazing, the coffee is fantastic.  The team provide excellent customer service and are fun to work with and the customers make the day go by so fast.
