A typical day working for Teekay included -
- Thorough workplace inspections as well as regular behavioural based interactions.
- My role was to consistently record WHS info and report this to Management and Contract Owners on daily and weekly basis'.
- Conducting internal audits against maritime and state legislations on all aspects of the marine towage and shipping operation.
- Conduct thorough investigations on any incidents/ injuries or deficiencies identified through the audit process.

My main learning in this role was how to best approach WHS issues in a highly unionised work force.

During my time at Teekay I found the company senior management to be very pro-active and supportive of introducing of best practice methods implemented.

My co-workers were mainly vessel coordinators and were very supportive of my requests when I required particular vessels and/ or personnel in order to close out any actions assigned to me by upper management or client representatives.

The hardest part of this role was attempting to compromise with some work force representatives in regards to raised industrial issues.

The most enjoyable part of this position was conducting workplace behavioural based interactions with workers that have a high level of respect toward workplace health and safety and are willing to explore new methods of doing tasks to achieve better outcomes.

I enjoyed my time working at Teekay.
My last position on board the "Ocean Protector" patrolled Xmas Island and Cocos Island, which are both very beautiful parts of the world.
I found that most of the Teekay crews formed a good bond and generally most crew members I sailed with also had positive experiences with the company.

International shipping company with its own Australian management team for its Aus operations. Clearly it has succeeded in becoming a dominant force in Australian shipping and continues to provide management of more and more Australian shipping jobs.
The marine work is good and their own vessels are well maintained. Requires a lot of time away from home if working on board vessels but  the leave ashore is also very good compared to shore workers.

I am currently employed on a one off vessel whose future is limited on the Australian coast. I am looking for future full time employment opportunities for when the vessel departs the Australian coast and I am out of a job.

Great co-workers, great team work. 
Love the job itself and all it's challenges and being on the sea is a big part of my life.
The most enjoyable part of my job would be being out on the ocean and the rewarding feeling you get when you know you are doing a good job and knowing that without the tug boats the Port would come to halt.

It has been an absolute pleasure to be associated with Teekay shipping. The overall management and leadership I have learnt here is second to none. 
The support from the highest levels has been solid and unwavering and have allowed a free hand to the shipboard management to take educated decisions.

They treated me very well - all the time I worked with them. Took a chance on me when others wouldn't. I found the same culture existed amongst my colleagues at each level. Recommendation positive.

Currently working on wharf & at own workshop looking for ongoing permenent work locally full time.

they tried to make it in australia by doing the right thing for all but alas politics envolved and ruined the industry.which was a shame as many young people could have been employed in the maritime industry

We have next vessel assignment while on vacation. And health insurance with retirement fund. No free transportation when we travel ti main office in Manila to our province
