Sydney Tools was a great place to work, there's great team culture and it's very easy to have a good day at work. However, some of (quite a lot of) the businesses processes from the top down is an absolute nightmare to deal with.

"Higher-ups", let's call them, just palm all sorts of issues off onto the next man down the line. And this repeats until eventually someone at a store level gets blamed. As you might imagine, this creates a fair bit of tension between the upper management in the company and the "lower-level" employees.

The company is run by dodgy, greedy people who's only interest is to serve themselves and their relatives working in the company (and there are dozens).

Simple requests or questions will be outright ignored by all for WEEKS, until one of the cousins asks, then it's no problem and it is resolved right away.

Expect to have fun. Don't expect to be appreciated whatsoever. You are a number.

I knew I had made a mistake on my very first day and started re-applying for new jobs in my first week.

During the interview the HR person kept on promoting the culture and how amazing it was. It was all lies, everyone is over worked, under appreciated, and management on all levels truly do not care about you. Turnover is super high across every department.

I am limited as to what I can say  here, but trust me it doesn't matter what you are told, or what they are offering you, it isn't worth it. I was only in this role for a short amount of time but the toll that it took on my mental health and wellbeing was staggering. I was diagnosed with acute depression directly attributed to my employment here and have only begun recovering upon leaving the company.

There is nothing more important than your wellbeing. Don't do it.

Do not apply at this place! They will put you on a trial that will go for 2 weeks and you will not do the job that you are hired for,you will be pushed around and given all the worst jobs that nobody wants to do on top of that noboday knows what to do as everyone has a task each time of the day. You will get yelled at for doing any job and expected to rush,yelled at using a forklift the majority of staff will not show you and you will be given the flick after 2 week and notified that you were on trial with no pay. This is commonly happening now given everything and everyone will take advantage of it.If your going to slave around at least be paid but don't waste your abilities here as they will not be appreciated.

Working at Sydney Tools is something really enjoyable and exciting! No day is the same and although the Directors expect a lot, I feel like family. I have been able to grow my career and have still have some many opportunities to grow and develop my skills in the HR department.

Due to the industry (Retail) at times it is full on but that is expected due to the different competing deadlines and different functions I would be looking after.

Great team environment, everyone is friendly in the office and ready to assist when you need assistance.

They promise the world in trainning and support but it never happens, they will then ride you to the point where you quit or are made to leave, when you ask for a pay rise or feedback on work they have never a positive thing to say just pick at the negatives caused by them not supplying tools or equipment required to do jobs, happy to take a customers money but they will drag out paying for said parts to complete a repair, you will also be made to hit the ground running and shown zero help or compassion once that contract is signed and submitted, payroll is a joke 

One of the worst jobs and environments to work. I was part of a team in the comms team. I was hardly given any training and was critiqued from day one about what I was doing wrong. Feels like my every move was being watched. Pretty sure other staff would report back to the managers. There was no team focus, everyone was just looking out for themselves. Kitchen and bathrooms were absolutely filthy. It’s the kind of place where everyone arrives at 8:59am and runs out the door at 5:01pm. Very gossip focused, negative and soul crushing environment. 

Depending on the store you can have a really nice team. But head office are a bunch of absolute idiots,  proof that just coz you have money doesn’t mean you have any brains or knowledge of how things work at a store level, just palm everything off to the bottom feeders. The whole company is pretty much a criminal enterprise. Don’t even bother thinking you can have time off if you’re seriously unwell even with medical certificates, they’ll just terminate you with no warning.

- Management sets targets that are unrealistic to achieve. This is especially annoying during the quiet holiday periods where we have no ability to generate sales.
- Micromanagement at a ridiculous level
- Pay is bad and no commissions
- Management are toxic
- Atmosphere feels oppressive
- Very little training for the vast range 
- No ongoing training from managers
- 90 hour fortnight is ridiculous
- Lots of unpaid time expected of you for little acknowledgement 

Easily the most stressful & toxic workplace I have ever seen.
Management are aggressive, rude and burn through staff quickly - as 1 manager said to me "I don't care if people leave, there's always another idiot to replace them".

Zero career advancement unless you are related to the owners, zero incentive to improve sales or procedures as you will get treated the same as before with no monetary reward. Zero flexibility.

I learnt a great deal in a short period of time due the extra time and effort i put in and was give by management 
when I wasn't on the phone or with a customer i was researching and learning and sharing my skills with current and new staff.
With a young family working 6-7days left no time to enjoy my kids.
