Sushi Train

This has to be one of the worst jobs I have had, the work culture was more toxic than when I worked at KFC with  bunch of bogan teenagers. The managers seemed ok a first, but with time they began to be come more and more passive aggressive. One of the managers was incredibly xenophobic and made me cry on multiple  occasions. No matter how sick I was I was expected to go to work, or I would be told off and given less shifts. There was a time when I was so sick at work that I was practically passing out while trying to serve customers and I was still expected to work. When I started to feel to ill to stand I was finally sent home but not before I was thoroughly told off and shamed. The work days were always stressful and incredibly unrewarding. While most of the staff was nice, the managers were nasty people. I would not recommend anyone work for sushi train unless their aim is to make their lives as missable as possible. 

as soon as i got hired as a kitchen hand at sushi train, it was very awkward and had to receive my uniform on the day that includes with a bandana that was overly complicated for me to put on since i've never worked in a space like this. these first 5 minutes of me going into this, they had wanted me to start straight away on cooking. i had someone train me but they were very busy so half the time i was trying my best to do good at cooking. it was a very difficult time and if there were strict training into this, i would have loved to work there. although there are alot of problems, the managers and partners were genuinely nice and there was free foods at the ends of shift.

The work itself wasn’t difficult once you memorised the menu items, but the staff at my store’s work culture was extremely cliquey; the managers and the majority of staff were from Chinese-speaking backgrounds, and they were generally quite unfriendly towards non-Chinese speakers. They also mercilessly nitpicked almost everything I did during the training stage, and they constantly gave me conflicting instructions about food prep procedures.

You should only apply if you have thick skin & are desperate for a job and/or a visa. I don’t think any amount of free sushi can justify that awful work environment. 

Firstly would check assigned position and then take over from whoever was there previously. Serve customers if present and if no one is there, help out others or do extra cleaning.
Dealing with complaints and working in a super fast-paced environment.
Management is good, gives people equal amount of shifts.
Co-workers make me look forward to my job- everyone is generally very friendly.
Hardest part of the job is the job. It can drag on forever.
Working together as a team with co-workers is fun especially if you've developed good relationships with them.

I love working at Sushi Train, It is a great job. You meet all kinds of new people. It's fast paced, friendly, superbly clean. Always have fun, and everyone is super friendly and inclusive. Hardest part of the job is during peak hours when you're already serving two customers and you need to take on more jobs. You cannot leave customers waiting for their drinks or to make orders and you need to constantly refill ice and water, seat customers, clean tables and prepare tables without making the customers feel rushed or inconvenienced, they are and will always be number one priority!

Breaks aren’t given properly, your “lunch break” is sometimes 45min. 12 hour shifts given to under 18s. Waaaaay to stressful, having to deal with angry customers waiting for a seat just really isn’t worth it. Being told to do 4 things at once and getting yelled at for not being able to do them quick. Management plays favourites. You can tell them you only can work half days and they’ll ask if you can work one full day, then this turns into all full days.This was just my experience working there and it may be different for others but i just don’t think it’s a good work environment, especially for young people like myself. 

The job itself is good, relatively easy to handle with a mix of team and mainly independent work. The workplace is hygenic and organised  but the training was lacking, although you'd work most things out yourself. Expect frequent shift cancellations, lots of complaining about employee task execution and expectations to do unknown task. They would hire new and ghost old employees really quickly for these reasons which I find is attributing to their own unrealistic expectations. They should train better and let people gain experience. Pay was barely acceptable and no employee benefits.

You learn a lot of stuff and is given too much instructions (makes you feel overwhelmed) on the first day. Gave too much work for one person and only paying min wage. You can do better and work at other place instead of here. They should hire more people instead of asking one person to do three different jobs. You sometime have to stay later than appointed time and its stressful. You don't feel so welcome as there is nepotism involved and its hard to understand coworkers with thick accents. 

Working here is one of the most stressing places. You go to work just to get yelled at by the delivers and pay is so bad. The manager gives our random shifts and either gave me no shifts when I said I could work, or gave me shifts on days I couldn't work. We get higher pay on weekends but then because of education, I can only really work on weekends, but then when I do work on weekends I get a 2 hour shift like whats the point in coming to work. Overall, bad management, stressing, and bad pay. Worst place you could ever work at. 

Workplace environment was not good at all, slip hazards everywhere, incredibly small workspace and breaks not provided properly. The only benefits were the long 12 hour shifts and the flexible timetable. The management were rude and demeaning to cooks, however waitstafff were treated decently. Quit as I knew that I could get a job elsewhere getting paid a livable wage in an environment where I was respected and not constantly yelled at.
