Spotless - Alliance Catering

I had worked for Spotless/Alliance for the past 20 years and found the work fantastic for the first 18 years but since Downer has taken ownership of the Company you can see the slide in Business.
I don't know if downer wants the Catering side of the business but seen to be losing contracts hand over fist and seem uninterested in retention.
When asking for staff feedback, which I supplied, it seemed to fall on deaf ears from the CEO and no action taken
If they had goon operations managers who were productive and not Back stabbers they would succeed in this business.

Workplace culture was pretty good most of the time. Each day you could be placed in a different role, e.g Burger department, sandwich bar, mine run, till operator. This was quite an enjoyable part of the job as you didn't get bored doing the same thing every day. A typical day could involve doing dishes, preparing food for cooking, washing floors, serving customers and stocking fridges. I found management very good and flexible when you required any days off for medical appointments etc.

They were very pushy with the Jobs.
I coudnt get to one job because my car stacker wouldn’t work and they asked me to catch public transport there. It would’ve taken me hours to get there with so many modes of transport. I didn’t have the time to do that to get back in time to pick up my granddaughter from childcare, not that I would want to travel both ways on 6 modes of transport anyway plus all the waiting time between modes as well and  all the travelling time   

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good company . Good salary and my manager was a good lady and a good boss

Only when there s a big function was the stressful part especially if we can’t get more people to

I found the staff was very open honest and supportive of each other.  The work was busy but enjoyable because of the environment. The company it self was the same. They looked after their staff and gave plenty of opportunity for self-improvement. The staff was keep up to date with training and supported by their managers to aim high.

A very interesting & enjoyable role. The hardest part was not consistent enough work.The most enjoyable was the variety of sites worked.A typical day was always different it was a casual job so different people every time. I had no involvement with management. I learnt something new at each site because i honestly believe we can all learn something new on any given day.

Working at spotless was a great experience they took me on with no experience and provided me with training and experience that I will take with me throgh life.
I received the opportunity to work bars, kitchens, suites, wait tables and even function setup.

I served an average of 300-400 people in 3hr shifts but despite that I don't believe the work to be intensive at all. However the pay was not the best.

the relevant certificates needed for my job was always managed and up to date , the company is every professional and understanding to their employees

A typical day at work usually consists of friendly faces, causal conversation and a great work ethic. 

I have picked up many skills working with Spotless and each of these have been useful in day to day life
