A typical shift involved preparing the floor before service, assisting with guest seating, running food and beverages, clearing tables, and supporting the team during busy periods. The pace could be fast during peak hours, especially on weekends.

Working in international hotels and resorts, are of a great benefit in understanding diverse cultures and races. Ensuring that a guest has a perfect stay whether it be corporate or holiday. Wages are a huge cost in hospitality, therefore my greatest challenge day to day was keeping wages to a budget in somewhat impossible situations . The job I am in currently is the weight loss industry, as much as I enjoy the personal rewards, I miss the physical pace and challenges of  hospitality. The most enjoyable part of the job was turning a negative situation into a positive, and ensuring that each guest left with a great memory of their stay.

Nothing, it was pretty depressing tbh, they don’t pay overtime, and they use the same rags to wash everything from the toilet to the benches and cups!

No overtime if you don’t finish all your rooms in time you have to stay back and work without pay!

Ok, but most of the people don’t speak English and talk in their own language. The supervisors pick on you but not on others.

Thats when we have full booking guest in the hotel such pressure and tiring because we clean so many rooms but despite of that we are still compensated with our hardwork.

Not pressured and supervisors are concerned with their employees

 during weekdays this are the typical days in my workplace

I work for 5 days. Basically i learnt a team work. managing your time  is most essential. Very supportive and helpful co workers and good in manner. Not so hard but its a bit more physical job that required pushing a trolley filled with all housekeeping stuff and roam around from 10 to 30th floor withing given time frame. The most enjoyable part of job is briefing time before we start our shifts in the morning where all the room attendants get praised for their work.

Working at the Sofitel  should be a 5 star experience, but alot of the cleaning experience  l have done and  seen are more 3 or 4 star .
As a room attendant they have some great ideas that they often use, but never last for long.
I hear alot and see alot as a room attendant and usually know in advance if people aren't happy or are going to leave.
Trying to get  help when you are hurt is something they have failed at.
In general communication is not the greatest.
Security is not a qualified doctor.

Rushing through cleaning allocated rooms because we didn’t get paid by the hour but by rooms

Stressful, expectations to work seven days a week no excuses 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rush all day no lunch break because there was no time. It was get work done in time or have lunch

i enjoy working for 12 years in this hotel , of course i work very hard to let my suprvisor an manager to know what iam capable to do after that period of time was nice working with my team work i train new staff for 10 year and was very happy doing that , iam very easy going person and thank you very much for the oportunity to apply for room attendant position

During my job i had to clean rooms, make the beds, make sure the guests were happy with the staying at the hotel, replacing everything with new items, eg; towels, sugar, coffee. I had to clean many rooms from bedrooms to bathrooms, i found it a bit hard, it was a challenging physical job but i was able to handle what i was supposed to do for my job to be done.
