Do yourself a favour and don’t even waste your time applying here. This place is a complete nightmare.

You’ll constantly get dumped with last-minute shifts (most of the time through a half-assed text, not even a phone call). If you’ve taken time off, expect to be punished for it. Medical certificates mean NOTHING here — you could be half dead and they’ll still hold it against you.

Management is an absolute joke. Rude, dismissive, and useless. You don’t even get a proper team leader until weeks into the job, and even then, good luck getting support. They’ll pull up “issues” months later and throw them in your face out of nowhere. The communication is honestly the WORST I’ve ever seen in any job — it’s chaotic, toxic, and makes you feel like you’re in an abusive relationship.

Yes, there are some benefits, but let’s be real — they’re not worth it compared to the stress, disrespect, and dysfunction you’re forced to deal with. You get a pathetic 5% discount at MyCar, free gloves, a flu shot, and a couple of other little perks. But honestly? None of it comes close to making up for the way this company treats its workers.

They lie about having “the right to refuse clients.” Sure, you can say no — until THEY decide your reason isn’t good enough. And some of the clients? A nightmare on their own. Hovering over you while you clean, nitpicking, making you redo things even when they’re already done properly.

This job will drain you, stress you, and make you hate every second you’re working. Not worth it. Avoid at all costs

Each night you get your roster for the following day, which allocates you clients and services within an allocated time frame. Services included could be; personal care, medication administration, domestic duties, social support or respite for family members.

The head office is located in Victoria Park (WA) and is contactable via telephone or email. inquiries are delegated to individual members of staff within the office specialising in different fields.

You work independently out in the community so rarely interact with other staff members unless briefly crossing over. However, there is always support given via a phone call from the main office when required. 

The hardest part is consistency with hours and times you work throughout the week. It is very hard to plan your personal life when you do not find out your roster until 17:30 the night before, but then during your working day it can still change due to staff calling in sick or shortage of support workers. You cannot budget a household due to not having consistent hours during the week. You may have a 10 hour working day but due to travelling and breaks in between clients, you may only be paid for 5 working hours.

The most enjoyable part is that everyday is different due to visiting a variety of clients daily. You are always kept busy so there's no need to be bored or 'clock watching'. You build a relationship with your clients built on trust and respect and knowing you have made someone else day better can be very fulfilling.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Poor management, do not use your skills for position they employ you for . Always cleaning and pay low money for cleaning. Company try’s to save money buy not paying petrol correctly.  New owners  are terrible at caring for their staff or clients.  Best part was choosing your hours of availability and clients were lovely also working close to home.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
That I always had to enquire why my travel was low or not paid for , they would say it was because there was a hour gap and time started again and they didn’t have to pay until you reached 30kms , they seam to make sure it was 29kms . You had minimum support from team leader even if she answered the phone . Stressful that even when they sent emails telling you that clients were very happy , they still didn’t value their team . 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was okay because you worked alone and most clients were lovely. Culture of management not recognised you a a team member they just wanted you to work and leave them alone. I will say there staff line were wonderful thank goodness as the team leader was unskilled to back or listen or help in hard situations. I work for another company now for one half year and see a big difference with support and fair travel pay and the my new team leader is very skilled. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Cleaning, cleaning and not utilising skills . You will be just a cleaning.

There is a toxic friend culture between management in the package team who promise promotion and employment to friends and family without experience or relevant knowledge. They allow ‘benefits’ to certain team members and deny others. Management turns a blind eye to bullying and allows workers to shop for several hours during their ‘work hours’, yet expect others to work through their breaks. If you speak up against fair work practices, you are not considered for promotion even if you put in the work.

Clients are not always provided with choice and control if they have memory loss, even though dignity of risk should be considered, as some employees are not appropriately suited to the role. 

There is no consideration for loyalty or years worked for an organisation with management forgetting to celebrate milestone celebrations for certain employees. 

There are inappropriate relationships between management and workers and no set professional boundaries. They make you feel guilty for taking mental health leave and then decline annual leave due to talk this time off. 

Other areas of the organisation should step in to clean up this toxic culture before it infiltrates other areas and tarnishes the brand. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
No support from anyone at Kincare. Direct team leaders came and went as did the direct client managers. 
Minimum and inadequate training provided by Kincare. Very minimal PPE’S provided only gloves and a box at a time. 
Half the staff didn’t bother to wear the uniform or was wearing inappropriate clothing when working. No body carded. 
Sent on long drives and allocated a short amount of time to get the job completed on time before driving to the other end of the coast to a clients house.  We were not paid the correct travel miles and had to check each client’s destination and departure addresses then were expected to fill out a form and wait for money owen to us.
No regular clients were allocated to anyone. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The massive ware and tare on my car from all the driving around. The fact that 90% of your day was spent on cleaning services. The fact you had extra services put on you run so you could plan accordingly. Team leader was a cow. The one good one we had, who had our back was moved on in a hurry. No Christmas gathering. Lazy co workers.

Bad work environment, very very bad. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Cleaning cleaning and more cleaning

Toxic environment,  big brother is always watching.  The management are too worried about keeping the stakeholders happy to worry about the workers. Management have their favourites and dont even hide it! Stock room is never stocked properly and you are told to just "make do" You are told when to have your lunch breaks, how long the appointment times can go for (even though sometimes you need much longer, but you will get into trouble for not keeping it in time!). I was professionally developed while I was there, told I was taking too long on my appointments- next thing you know the people I was taking so long with had extra time given to their schedule.  So, I was bullied by management to quit. Very toxic environment.  They read your notes and even if they dont like ONE word, you will have to rewrite it and on their program, thats a nightmare.  Most people wrote their notes in Word, but I was never given any time to call IT. I would have had to call them in my own time. Don't think you will ever get overtime, you will come back late, but it will be YOUR fault cause you should have told them!!!

Normally a 6.30am start to organise rosters for our drivers for the day's deliveries and equipment pick ups of relevant medical equipment (eg electric hospital beds) for palliative care clients.
Monitor the cleaning and maintenance of our medical equipment for occupational and safety requirements. As National Purchasing Officer I was responsible for the investigation, pricing and acquisition of bio medical equipment for our home care and medical staff. In addition, I was responsible for the annual servicing and calibration of said equipment held by our clinics and staff throughout Western Australia. The work load was too much for one person and necessitated me working long hours to fulfil the requirements of the position. Numerous requests for assistance were ignored and seemed to fall on deaf ears!
The most rewarding part of my position was assisting our palliative care clients through an often sad and difficult time dealing with the inevitable loss of a loved one.

Where do i begin?!?!
The clients first of all are really nice and lovely and appreciative.They are not the problem.
But as a hcw the company expect too much from you and you are underpaid basically as a home cleaner. Professional cleaners get paid more.
There is not enough travel time between jobs and so you feel very rushed and panicky especially during peak traffic times and the schedulers have no idea about the areas or where you were contracted to work in because they send you all over the place. No time for breaks.   Travelling kms between jobs is underestimated and underpaid on their end because they use google shortest routes. In real time doesn't work. 
Jobs are changing left right and centre up to the same day with an hour to start.
By the end of the day you are exhausted and depleted. Over worked, demanding and underpaid. This job is good as a casual job to fill in hours here and there with another ongoing job. If its a fulltime job its very stressful.
Clients care plans are not updated from years ago (probably their 1st and last) !!! So you are working from old care plans. 
Case managers need to be accountable. 

Kincare was once a great place to work where the company and Management cared about their employee’s and clients, unfortunately this is no longer the case.  Overworked & underpaid HCW’s mixed with no support because client’s don’t know who their Managers are or if they have one due to high turnover and a lot of people in departments quitting made the job very difficult especially when your in the middle of a pandemic.  Aged Care is supposed to help the vulnerable but trying to schedule services for those who need help when you don’t have workers or Managers to make sure they are getting their services makes for an unpleasant work environment.  Unfortunately Kincare’s values are no longer what they used to be and working in Aged Care should be about helping those in need, instead they are waiting for someone to take their call for long periods of time due to being understaffed and then nobody in actually around to help them… very very sad and heartbreaking for these people and their families.

My typical day at work is getting up at 6am to think about my day and organize myself. then i go to my first clients house say good morning and ask how they are. In my job Ive learned to pace myself more and not rush and drive fast to get to a client accidents happen.
Ive learned how people are effected in our community by not seeing anyone eg family ,friends, neighbors . they feel isolated because they don't drive anymore.and love to see there support workers. my co-workers are nice people although we don't see each other very often as we work alone  one on one with our clients.the hardest part of our job is when a client passes away that you have seen for a long time . the most enjoyable part of my job is knowing that I have company support a click away and other staff to ring if I need them, the clients and there families are great and we meet up with them sometimes at the clients house. It makes me happy to see clients faces light up when I sometimes turn up with a coffee for them ( which is aloud now and then by kincare ).
