I worked for the Company for over 3 years. I was originally hired as the Assistant Manager and was only paid as a full time employee on paper work. Initially I really enjoyed the job but one of the State Managers was a bully our Area Manager was a bully who worked under and with him. And in turn hired a store Manager who also bullied about 5 Team members out of their jobs in the 1 year she worked for our store. HR couldn't get her out even though all Team members contionusly complained. After she left I stepped up and Managed the store while they found someone else for 8 months whilst still being paid as a full time employee. We smashed our kpis sitting at the top of the ladder most weeks.  But our Area Manager use to favour our Manager even though she knew she was a bully she made us feel like we were overexagerating or manipulating the truth . So did the State Manager so we felt like there was no hope for us. When I resigned after my new job offer I did so through HR and gave x2 weeks notice. My Area Manager told my team I shouldn't have resigned through HR but instead  through her and made me finish up on the same day not being allowed to say goodbye to my regulars or anything as to make it look like a dismissal. I wish someone from Sydney would have come to help us bit no-one did. I even emailed the owner of Sanity.

Very minimal hours of team to run your store not enough help be prepared to do everything you get 3 hours help a day. 
Don’t drink when your own own no proper bathroom breaks expected to call security, when your team isnt performing your told it’s your fault what can you do to fix it! 
No support, complaints fall on deaf ears no one does anything about it someone I know quit due to severe bullying the company did nothing! Accept make them co exist as it was their job! 
Double standards expect the world from you but nothing in return but increasing your work load, Sales set ups are like way to frequent you have to change the whole store and send pictures and are ridiculed when something is out of place and cannot leave till it’s fixed, Christmas Eve no one leaves till whole store is done and don’t let you start it till so late. 
It’s just absolutely crazy the amount of work they expect. 
Be prepared for them to act like your selling BMWS not DVDs 😂😂
Lots of unpaid hours are required to even get all the tasks done. 
Never making bonuses as budgets are far too high, dying industry!! 
Do not work here!

Th merchandise  is shocking the expect you to sell $2 shop garbage for $5-$10 just insane! They will do anything for a $1

I began training and working at Sanity during peak hour Christmas period, which was extremely stressful. But this showed trust and encouragement from my employers as they were showing me how everything works and they believed in me from the start.
Looking back on my first stages at Sanity up until I left, I had grown so much as a person on a personal level and in the workplace.
I felt confident in every skill and I looked forward to going to work, from the positive and motivating workplace culture. 
I built strong relationships with the management and my co-workers, who taught me everything I learnt including; how to talk to customers, how to answer the phone (the Sanity way), how to cash up the til, how to open and close the store, how to use the computer and how to clean the store. They were also very helpful in teaching me the most efficient ways to do everything.
The hardest part of working at Sanity was the potential for not meeting the set KPI's for the week, as I always worked to the best of my ability.
The most enjoyable part/s of the job was the people I worked with and the excitement and unpredictability whilst working there.

I've worked here for three years, and I love it. They might be picky about who they hire originally, but it makes for a team that (mostly) get along and a friendly work environment.
The CEO, State Manager, Area Manager, and Store Managers are all wonderful and make an effort to get to know their staff. I've met them all, and from top to bottom they've been nothing but kind.
Sometimes there's a little pressure to make budgets and KPI's, but you can understand that when our main competitor is everything on the internet.
As a full time uni student, the understanding of what hours I can do is wonderful. It does leave me a little tired after a full day, but there is the option of telling them you can only do X days.
Annual leave builds up nicely as a part-time member, and my applications for it have never been declined.
We also have a lovely bunch of regular customers, and when you get to know them they are the highlight of the day.
Also, there's a crazy discount that makes gift giving and personal buying so much more affordable.

The workload at Sanity is huge considering how inconsistent the hours are and how little you get paid. I was 19 and getting paid $16.80 an hour. I had to work all weekend, every weekend. I had no free time to hang out with friends or my family, who all work weekdays. Even when I would ask for some weekends free, or even just one of the 2 days, it would rarely happen.
You work your bum off with how unbelievably high their KPI expectations are, and you get no reward for doing so. All they do is expect bigger and better next time. There's no bonuses, no rewards, not even an occasional dinner.
The staff are about the only good thing about this job. Working with them all the time, you become basically family. It's such a happy environment to be in and you'll make some friends you'll have forever.
Management is gross. They show lots of favoritism and will rarely give a rats bum about you unless you suck up to them. 
You also work 9 hour days and are entitled to ONE 30 minute break, that's UNPAID. They're very tight with their money, and very strict.

The team was very welcoming at first, they knew how to ease you into your first day of work. I actually got extremely sick about 5 minutes before I started and was planning on sticking it out as my shift was only 3 hours however the manager said I looked sick and was sweating and asked if I wanted to go home. Reluctantly I said yes however she was very understanding which relaxed me a bit. In general, working at the store was stressful, I had to learn a lot of content extremely fast, there was no time for slack people and I didn't quite like the manager I worked most with. She was curt, rude, belittling and aggressive. Being the only junior worker, I was treated poorly and pushed around. Only 2 of the team were actually nice to me and understood that being the new girl was tough. The pay was pretty good however they have strict dress code rules and no exceptions. You even get in trouble for making a mistake on how you pick up the phone. I would recommend this job for fast learners and people aged over 16.

I loved this job in the beginning I started as a Christmas Casual it was fun I followed the company interstate and quickly found out that being a Part Team member wasn't all that the brochure promised. Area Manager on a Daily basis would ask how they could help however would not even entertain any of the suggestions or proposed ideas. (Had no interest in our opinions just wants results). Staff are visible over worked and underpaid, if you like doing a lot of free labor just to keep things afloat this maybe the job for you. KPI's and Sale are unrealistic always, with no continued training after initial probation period. Worse part is the customers are amazing and you fellow team member are the best people you'll ever meet, just disappointing the Company is too concerned with the $ to create a welcoming and worthwhile work environment.

Found KPI and sales expectation impossible to reach especially for a beginner. Intense multitasking with often complex problem solving. If you mess up on the computer it’s a nightmare. Coworkers were friendly and nice but were too busy and overworked to properly help you. 
Found customer relations to be the easy part. Reasonable level of fitness required. A team effort is advertised but then they encourage competing for sales. 
If you are energetic, have thick skin and ready to learn it would suit you. 
Management did not appreciate when you did things right so often didn’t know if was doing a good job. 
Are expected to continually up sell. Didn’t like pushing people to spend. 
Shifts hours are terrible. If you have to drive long distance not worth it. 

a typical day is open the store, greet customers/serve while unpacking stock and doing stock returns, answer phones and emails, close store. While being at sanity I was able to progress very quickly up the ladder from part timer to store manager, they have a really great development program for staff who want to run a store. Management are really nice and very helpful, and the staff are super friendly. Great staff benefits with your discount on product. only downside is they can be pretty demanding on their tasks for the day, while remaining customer focused.

During the 9am-5-pm shifts once a week, the day consisted of cleaning (vacuum, dust, etc), restocking the CD's and DVD's, it was strictly specified that I was not allowed to handle money because I was only doing voluntary work experience. Though working at Sanity has enable me to experience hard work. The management and co-workers were friendly even though there weren't that much - since it is a small store. The hardest part of the job was to go through the day having assigned a job - usually if nothing specific had to be done, an alphabetic check would have to be done within all the CDs and DVD's. The most enjoyable part of the job was being in a music store and being a music fan myself I got to listen to great songs on the job.
