Safeway

This supermarket is a smaller shop than the others, as there is another major supermarket on the other side of town. 
A typical day is quite like Melbourne weather; one minute it can be crazily busy(most likely due to the staff:customer ratio) and the next minute the shop can be mediocre. 
I learned many new skills while working here, as I had worked in many departments, like never do too much too soon at a new workplace as it can result in injuries and have no-one care about it. 
Most of the co-workers were great(I think because two of them were my relatives!) but then again, there were staff who just shouldn't be in retail! I guess there are people like that in every workplace.
The hardest parts of the job is working weekends, public holidays and at times of the day where you'd love to be at home with the family. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting people. You learn how to interact with people in a better way and also what else was great about working in a supermarket is learning different recipes that customers share with you. 
My overall experience about working in a supermarket was fantastic and I loved it. I would definitely take up working there again.

A typical day at work would be on the cash register serving customers put there goods neatly and in a coordinated manner. At the same time trying to start a conversation which I usually started with was "How is your day?" 

I learnt that not everyone is always in a talkative mood. It is sometimes best to rather provide a fast and efficient checkout for some people and doing best to not intrude in their personal issues. 

Management at Safeway was great, I had a balanced work schedule throughout the week. I was able to often ask for more shifts or even take a few shifts off. Managers at Safeway treated everyone with respect.

The co-workers were great and would happily answer any questions i had when i had just started. Communication was a great aspect of the other workers as it made it more clearer of what we all had to be doing. 

The most enjoyable part of working for Safeway, was the fact i got to meet different people and possibly have a quick chat about their day. It put a smile on my face being able to have a quick conversation with someone and possibly making a great first impression. 

A typical day at work is normally busy, crazy, quiet or just right. As I work at the Safeway known to be the busiest Safeway in Melbourne it gets very busy and especially over summer time.
What I've learnt from Safeway is probably a lot of self confidence due to a lot of customer interaction and also obviously your usual job things such as cash handling,  managing stock etc. I love working at Safeway mostly because I work with a great group of co-workers who were absolutely lovely from day one and have made some great friendships with a lot of them, even if it's the co workers you don't know who just say a simple hello or goodbye when passing through.
The hardest part of my job is probably cigarettes as I'm not a smoker I find it so frustrating to try and find which ones are where and all the different sizes and colours etc and when customers get frustrated with you when you can't find them or don't have them or if they know where they are and you don't.

Overall Safeway is a friendly environment to work in, whenever you needed help the managers/supervisors were always open to helping you out. All co-workers were nice and easy to get along with. I learned how to work individually at the service counter as well as in a team when we would stock up. I learned how to count cash and refill and empty out cash registers. The hardest part of the job was probably when I first started and customers would ask me which isle certain products were in and I was still getting use remembering where all the places were. The most enjoyable part of the job was working as a checkout chick, when its busy you don't really realise times going quick because you're always serving customers and it was pretty interesting to hear what stories people would tell you.

basically clock in and read what you have to do for the shift / if there is or isn't a supervisor around , learned how to work in a team and on your own to solve problems , all the co workers had same shifts every time as i did so we became good friends and working alongside them was always enjoyable . Hardest park of the day was the closing shift as everything had to be 100% for the start of the next days shift. 
best park about working there was just how easy it was to get along with every one and how you would meet some amazing people around the store that would always have conversations with and even getting presents of customers for X-mas / Easter

I worked in all different departments, in the time i was with Woolworths, which made it fun and exciting. I learned people handling skills as well as stock control. Balancing accounts and invoicing were other things i learned, as well as many other skills. The management were generally supportive and encouraging, and i got along well with most of my co-workers. The hardest part of the job was doing night work and stacking shelves that were too high. I really enjoyed working in the cash office, answering the phone and paperwork. I love administration work, as well as dealing with customers.

A Customer focused company that supported their staff members from all levels. I learnt goal setting, planning my day/time, communication skills, how to build a team environment and maintain a team focused work place.
The work culture was awesome and you were rewarded for your efforts. The hardest part of the job was going home as the environment to succeed at Safeway was like playing your favourite sport you enjoyed the challenge and customer is always right mentality made it special.

Safeway was a company that displayed care towards their employees, also giving every team member the opportunity to advance their career. Safeway was a customer orientated company that display the respect towards their team members that they expected the team members to display towards the customers. Conditions were always clean and tidy, the team were kept informed of  changes up to date of results. Great Company to work for. always

I was with three other staff members while we went out to take out 12 members of the dementia ward. I have never felt so good when I saw the gladeness in the faces of these elderly people to view the riverbank. I have thought to myself that if they could be having more of times like these, it would be phenomenon. However it was only scheduled once after many months due to bussy staffs. But I had a nice day seeing these people happy.

every day at work is different I get to deal with many types of people and their situations. I have learnt to deal with certain situations that come my way.

ive learnt that woolworths helps you if they can and they follow there procedures.

the hardest part of my job is dealing with very arrogant  customers and not being able to express myself and biting my tounge.
