Very varied work, but early starts and late finishes on different shift patterns. Very busy all day, from unlocking to collecting post. Maintenance duties include plumbing, lighting, repair work and painting. For the skills they require, the pay is extremely low. Pro rata, probably the lowest on site.  11,000+ steps a day, and no meals included. Lots of nice people work there, but management not interested in changing conditions to suit workers lives or skills. Can be very demanding too, not understanding how things operate or efficient  work practices. Also, not enough staff on the team to cover the required work load- leading to tiredness.  And a year of probation seems excessive and designed to get as much out of your for as little reward as possible. The supervisor who interviewed me, and ultimately hired me, found a better paid job and handed in his resignation within 2 months of me being there. They didn't offer him a better deal to keep him, which is a shame because he was an excellent worker and a great boss

My role varied from day today which I found very enjoyable.  My superiors were very supportive and also allowed me to work unsupervised on a number of occasions.   During my apprenticeship I learn a great deal about such things as Equality and Diversity , Confidentiality and Risk assessment which I feel are all important issues within the work place.
My co-workers were very friendly and we enjoyed social events together.
I feel the opportunity I was given in this position has helped me to develop my knowledge and motivated me to seek further employment in this field.

My review on Suffolk New College is as an apprenticeship it is a good wage to begin with but as I am getting older it is not enough unfortunately. As I have progressed at the college my workload has increased massively which is good to me as it shows I am hard working and responsible enough to do it all. The management side lacks on very poor communication with the staff leaving a lot of confusion often.

One of the worst places I've ever worked in, "Management" are beyond useless and there is a lot of bullying going on. Some members of staff should be sacked for their lack of professional conduct but it's not what you know but who you know. Unruly young people with lack of respect for staff. Under paid for the responsibility you have.

As a student at Suffolk New College my overall opinion is that the college is a fantastic place to be and I greatly enjoy learning there.
Whilst I have been there I have learned many new skills and improved skills I have already.
The college is a safe and friendly place to be due to the amount of support you get off the staff and security.

Good place to work, job is not difficult. Have to pay for parking. Other staff quite nice and friendly, helpful. Nice being off half term and Bank Holidays. Hours change from term to term depending on the students you are assigned. 

I was a lecturer at the college, there was little space for progression, immediate management didn’t know what they were doing but got away with it time and time again.  Students and facilities are excellent, but stuck at the top of a pay scale with no progression options forced a grade 1 teacher out back into industry.

Most work colleagues great , teaching staff not very knowledgeable, no set teaching criteria, every teaching member of staff teaching different things and some don’t even teach students correctly, will give college a bad name if students ever go into a workplace 

I loved studying at Suffolk New College. I learned so much in those two years, I enjoyed every day, even on busy day's I loved being on the go, it was a calm but also the exciting environment to work in.

The Zone is a beautiful reception area to the hairdressing salons and nail. You are trained by the receptionists who work there full time on there. For the beauty salons you call upstairs to their rooms for quick and efficiant collection of clients. Can be busy but very useful.
