I had high hopes deciding to work for an organisation whose reputation remains strong in the sector and whose purpose in centred around assisting those who are most vulnerable in our community. Initially, these hopes were met as employees were valued, listed to and consulted about the future of the company. Unfortunately this quickly degenerated into chaos as staff, including those at the top of the organisation left and staff turnover overall increased. Less communication, a lack of genuine leadership and a more punitive atmosphere meant it became an awful place to work. Worst of all, the values of the company were left in tatters as clients were put second to financial and personal interests. Disappointing.

Sometimes I would drive the van to pickup clients and bring back to the hub or go to activites such as swimming or dancing.
Organizing crafts, assisting in meals, shopping, medications, going bowling.
I learnt just how able people with disadvantages are.
Management were great to work for, always helpful and encouraging.
The culture was fun, focused on positivity and goals.
Hardest part of the job was losing clients to their illnesses.
Best part of the job was meeting new workers, and interacting with amazing people who have some disadvantages in life.

Working at scosa was the worst experience of my 30 years' in the workforce. This was due to the lack of communication from management especially the GM People and Culture. Staff are always in the dark and staffing decisions are made without consultation. The staff at scosa hear about management decisions after the fact.

If other organisations operate like scosa then I will never work for a disability organisation again.

I really enjoyed it, however the team leaders didn't think I was the "right fit" I asked them to explain but they didnt say anything about it 

But overall it was a great experience...

They are good length days and you prioritise you life around it

Staff are rewarded for going over and above for the clients. This is a certificate and a cash reward.

Uniforms are supplied along with further education

All certificates are paid for

I enjoy working as a team member to facilitate enjoyment and challenges for the clients attending the day service.  There a broad spectrum of activities available to the clients.

Basically all i did was socialise with the people there who attend SCOSA. 

- typical day was to help out the staff if needed
- it was fun
- i learnt multiple things, more or less trying to help out people who need assistance and to try and brighten up their day

This was a pleasant and sometimes challenging workplace. As a single parent it was difficult to get time off in school holidays to look after my child. overall was a rewarding organisation to work for.
