To work as a Home Support Worker at Resthaven the position requires a person with excellent communication and mannerisms on and off the phone. A good Home Support Worker must possess the capability to communicate with people of multiple cultural backgrounds and walks of life. I thoroughly enjoy my time working here but I would like another job on the side to have a change of pace. I Also, would like another opportunity to keep me busy in my part time year of nursing study.

Information regarding procedure and policy not readily available.  Not sure of career advancement found it hard to get permanent hours.  Most enjoyable part of my job is the reason I go to work at that is to give customer service to residence and make a positive contribution to their lives.

Hired to be a carer not a cleaner. All day everyday you would clean houses, 3hrs of cleaning at up to 4 clients places. Those who did the rosters didn't allow time for breaks or the time to travel between clients. Lack of communication between management and staff. Underpaid when working outside of normal hours all because they pay a few cents above award rate.

i worked at several different sites most were OK, but head office had no idea on how site's actually work we all about making money and depending on your manager some cared more for the workers and residents and some you never seen.

A place of competition- not working as a team. Assistant manager is not professional. Bullying- multiple PA's have left due to the bullying. Coordinators that speak to other 'office' workers aggressively. Not a nice a place to work. I'm not sure how this place hasn't been followed up by higher management. 
The client's are well taken care off.

Alway's in conversation and meeting of new elderly.Easy going and always on your feet.Meetings the start of day was interesting and good communications between employers.Happy at end of meeting.

I had my internship at Resthaven and from the moment I stepped in, I loved it and I made up my mind I was going to work with them.
They have friendly staff willing and ready to help/support when needed.
I felt at welcomed.

Great way to gain understanding in clinical care and services.
Great training for understanding of infection control protocols.
Increased awareness of individualized care needs and how to accomplish them the best way.

Would never recommend this work place. 
Terrible management from all levels.
Poor work standards
Higher than normal turnaround ofstaff.
Always understaffed, with high workload.

Fantastic place to have done my work placement. Staff were committed to assisting me when required and I learned a lot. The residents are well cared for and enjoyed their activities and excursions.
