My position was working with the Bed allocations Manager(s) as well with the Hospital Coordinator(s).  It was a role that involved working closely with the whole hospital.  
Bed allocations needed the attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills as it was our role to take down details of patients needing admission or needing to be transferred from another hospital or Dr's surgery.  It was our duty to screen all phone calls while our manager was on their rounds and pass on any new patients to them as soon as possible by our paging system.  Once the rounds where finished, I would enter the bed allocations into Meditech against the patients name so the entire hospital could see where the patients would then be allocated for the duration of their stay.  This could change throughout the day if there was an emergency or if the ward had other changes to their patient lists.  I would be in regular contact with the NUMS with updates on extra discharges or patients that may have had to extend their stay.  It was also my duties to communicate regularly with our emergency department with any patients that were to be admitted.  Dr's would also contact us if they had a patient that needed to be transferred from regional QLD.  Working in the Hospital Coordinators office also needed attention to detail and strong communication skills.  My role was assisting with the deployment of agency and permanent pool staff for their shift.  If there was any new agency staff for a shift it was then my responsibility to give them a quick orientation of the hospital.  We would take any sick/carer's leave etc calls for the nursing staff and then need to pass this information onto the ward and hospital coordinator.  We would then need to update our rostering system.  This needed to be done as soon as a call would come in so that if a ward would fall short on staff, agency staff or the hospital float could then cover that shift.  We would be in regular contact with Nursing Agencies to ensure every shift had the adequate number of staff to cover.  This would involve contacting the agency 4 times throughout the day/night. Our management were friendly, easy to talk to and always there to help.  This position was great to work amongst a number of departments as well as assisting the PA's of the Director of the hospital.  All in all a fantastic place to work and always looked after if you showed how much you would put in when on shift or if needed to cover a shift.

A typical day at work for me as Front Office Manager always had many different elements ranging from - Staffing requirements, IT issues, general trouble shooting, rosters, patient contact, liaising with other hospital managers, submitting reports and general office duties.
Have a wonderful team constantly working towards a high work ethic and a good moral ensured a high work through put and general wellbeing in the office.
As a manager the one big lesson I learned was that my staff didn't care how much I knew, they only wanted to know how much I cared, and cared about them. Once they knew that, they would bend over backwards to meet hospital set requirements (KPI targets) and seek to have all shifts and bases covered when the need arose.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the 'troubleshooting' aspect with my team members. I love thinking on my feet and being able to find pathways for best possible outcomes. Areas for troubleshooting included: customer service, staffing issues, rosters, IT issues, printer problems and general office requirements. 
The hardest part of my job was to put all processes and procedures onto paper. This area required more discipline and commitment from me to get the job done, but once I started and gained momentum, the rest came easy.
The hospital management is fantastic. My managers were approachable  and easy to work for and with. Working with and open door policy, they assisted and helped where they could and would encourage managers to come up with new ideas for streamlining work processes and implementing them. 
A big focus at the hospital was on teamwork and ownership.

If you ever want to feel a sense of not being appreciated as a human being for your work than this is the place to come. It has started to spiral out of control in the last 3-4 years and its never a surprise to see what new lows this place can hit. Record number of resignations and changes across all levels, nurses, admin staff, theatres, management and executive. They always "claim" to be listening to feedback and working on things but nothing will ever change. They don't communicate anything properly and there is a lot of talking behind closed doors, backstabbing and in general passing the buck. Executive levels need to bypass their management and talk to the people on the ground level to get a proper consensus of whats going on, because they just ask how things are and management cover it up by saying 'oh yeh all good'. This is not the case. There are people here who have left due to stress and work issues which could of ALL been prevented. They know this but choose to worry about just collecting their own pay packet and hoping the problem goes away. They do a staff survey 1 year ago, the place rates extremely poorly and are now trying to say oh we have implemented fixes! Sorry, where and how? Non existent. They must also do a good job of lying to the Ramsay health head honchos too. If you are a nurse, wards person, clerk or in catering, housekeep etc I would not recommend this place. Everyone is miserable at the moment and if you are considering a job, walk around the hospital for 10 minutes and you will see what I mean.

1. The company is very good to work in but the Admin managements and the team leader are poor in knowledge which made many staff to leave the company.

2. The staff do not feel secure in their positions as many jobs changed from permanent to contractors.

3. The mangers do not have any idea about the amount of the work that the staff do and the manger keep  adding more tasks which caused delay in achieving the work at the end of the month.

4. the manger and the team leader never answer any email regarding work in time that makes the staff seeking different resource for help, which break the trust between the staff and both the manger and the team leader. 

5. The team leader reported falls information to the manger which made the manager angry and this caused incorrect behavior of the manger toward the staff and for many times.

6. in short the manger should look after her way in managing the work and the staff rather than yelling so this will help the staff to achieve their tasks with ease and in a happy environment rather than keep the staff in tens all the time.

7. The manger should realize not all the jobs can be changed on daily, or weekly basis as some of the tasks need a lot of follow up, but that does not mean not to learn each other duties.

*I normally start my day going around the hospital replenishing the oxygen supply after which I become available to take on transport jobs.  The jobs are allocated by a central control and can encompass any number of scenarios.  Sometimes I am situated in Theater and transport patients to theater and back to the wards, likewise I could be based in Emergency or in Xray.  
*I have learned to manual handle very sick patients into and out of wheelchairs, beds and trolleys, to talk to and "come-along side" very sick people and enjoy especially relating to the DVA patients, having a interest in military  history myself.
*I do have a difficulty with the style of management currently in force in the environmental services which does not allow for any initiative and there is no opportunity to rest except on breaks.  However overall, I find Greenslopes Private Hospital  a good place to work.
*I get on extremely well with my co-workers
*It is very physically demanding
*Talking to some of the older military clientele and learning about their experiences in the past military conflicts  
*I enjoy the contact with the public and my co-workers within the hospital, whether it be the CEO or doctors,nurses or other staff

I have worked for Ramsay Health for the past 11 years.

I first worked at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane and then my husband got a transfer to Cairns as he is in the Navy.

A typical day at work here at the Cairns private consists of booking patients in for theatre finding extra theatre lists for surgeons informing all areas of extra cases

I have an extremely approachable manager who is very considerate and understanding of family needs on the work side he is totally understanding of the pressures of this job and helps where he can, also stands up for his staff at appropriate times and his leadership is of a high standard in all situations and uses the appropriate leadership style for each and every staff member.

The workplace culture in theatre most times is positive and everyone works together extremely well in difficult situations and there is always praise.

The hardest part of this job is ensuring my time management is of a high standard, multitasking is a must and dealing with people of all different personalities and have effective communication skills.

I enjoy all aspects of this position and feel I achieve great satisfaction on a daily basis

Avoid at all costs. Everything is about money and patient care suffers significantly. 
- Staff have high patient ratios - AM 1:5 PM 1:6-7 ND 1:11 with the in charge frequently being given a full patient load as well.
- Your shifts are forever cancelled even as a permanent employee. If you refuse to be given leave for them not being able to give you the work, they will make you work at another facility which could be an hours travel away from your permanent worksite. - They rarely pay overtime even if you work extra shifts.  
- Executive management brews an exceptionally toxic culture where workers frequently feel intimidated and bullied. 
-Expensive car parking and no parking discounts offered to staff. 
-No incentives for continuing professional development, unpaid study days for mandatory competencies 
There is also very low employee satisfaction amongst the staff however like myself I continue to work here because I need my job to survive but am actively pursuing work elsewhere.

A typical day is an early start at 6:00 am which includes  maintenance of pantries, inventory control, patient service for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, maintenance and preparation of kitchen for afternoon shift and vise-versa.
Management is very supportive. I have learned to take my customer service to the next level and how to deal with problems or inquiries when they arise in a professional way and always under company's code of conduct, rules and regulations.
We have a multicultural workplace where we interact with each other building our relationships on trust and respect. The culture is outstanding and we operate well as a team.
The most enjoyable part of the job is going above  beyond to serve patients and be commended for your excellent service. The reward comes with a big smile on their face. The challenge is the long hours of standing up and always on the go trying to fulfill all the obligations that are required in a specified time frame and resolve any problems that may arise professionally.

Today Im working in the volunteers office with another injured worker,
We manage the co-ordination the volunteers to preform tasks for the patients then for the staff,  I am also entering data for the CCD ,this is to help me with excel spread sheets , I answer phones, page, scan ,fax, file ,  audit ,stocktake ,.
This position is temporary The  ADON MARG KENNY ,has me  doing these thing to help me retrain and up skill because of injury  so far I have not found a suitable clerical job at Greenslopes and have started to look out side for work I would love to use my nursing and trainer skills to continue to help people which I cant to at GPH,
The hardest part of my work presently is not being able to  really help people as I have before and being at GPH is good and bad for me  Not everyone wants me around I experienced Bulling and negative comments   .The most enjoyable part is the joy the volunteers get out of helping the patients and staff

I really enjoyed my time working at Ramsay Health Southern Highlands Private.
In my time as a nurse 👩🏻‍⚕️ working at the private, I was fortunate enough to work in all area of the hospital, which included but not limited to Medical & Surgical wards. HDU, CSSD, day stay surgery and theatres.
I also helped out under supervision in Recovery. 
I worked with a number of fabulous staff and management in my 5 years at SHPH. 
I really enjoyed working night shifts on a busy surgical ward full of post op patients. It was extremely tiring heavy work, long hours with no doctor on duty and very minimal staff, but I worked with a great bunch of senior staff, that on the most part we’re willing to always offer their support, knowledge or assistance. We all worked very well as a team. The hospital also had some really FUN outside bonding activities like Miss Muddy that was a charity event to raise money for breast cancer.
