A typical day at work would require myself coming into work with a smile on my face hi-fiving my fellow team workers. We learned a lot about our customers on a daily basis simply by asking numerous questions and understanding who they were while adjusting the shoe to their desire. Our current manager for the past 2-3 years has been amazing and extremely accommodating with everything we've needed as well as workplace tools allowing us to keep growing within the sales workforce. The hardest part about the job I'd have to say is when it came around Christmas time the stores can become extremely over crowded and attending to several customers at a time takes its toll. Other than that the most enjoyable part of the job would be coming in and being able to work with such a pro active team and management that keep you motivated on a daily basis.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with plat and it was a good opportunity for me to build my confidence and gain experience in operations, leading teams, customer service etc. It can be a great job if you have a good team and supportive store managers. However, there is a high turnover in staff & management, they can be very strict on KPI’s and there can be very few shifts available in slow periods as a casual (they cancel shifts last minute if not enough money is being made throughout a week). Upper management can also be questionable at times. I must say, I have been fortunate to have had some great team members and have made life long friends !

I worked at platypus for two years. in those two years I saw almost 10 managers leave because of how poorly they were treated by upper management. they push you to compete with your coworkers to have the best kpi and expect the world of you while paying you minimum wage. the only reason I stayed as long as I did was because the staff were absolutely lovely until we lost our manager and got in people who's values didn't sit right with me.

The upper management doesn’t care about you or your personal life. They only care about if you exceed their unreasonable expectations, they won’t take into accountability how hard you tried on the slow days. The only good part is your actual in store team, upper management is the worst I have ever seen. 

Unrealistic expectations when it comes to selling. Management expect you to sell more than one item per sale, if you don't then your shifts gets taken away. They don't care about your mental health. Team members are made to work by themselves for long hours, which is both mentally draining and unsafe, all to save the company money! 

Unfortunately, being young I believe i was taken advantage of. I wasn't given fair shifts what so ever and no one really cared even if i told them. I loved the environment, but we were pushed to make unrealistic goals and were never rewarded for hard work, not even with shifts. Very disappointing.

Really stressful environment chasing multiple KPIS while you would rarely get actual support from upper management, opinions, and feedback wouldn't be heard and no actual changes will be made.  


Team you work with are always elite, serious problems within the culture of the company that is distilled down, speak to you, treat you and view you as absolute trash, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you want to go insane 

-Typical day at work consisted of greeting customers and learning more about sales and working at retail. I learnt more about how retail works and improved my communication skills.
Workplace culture was really good as dress codes were open for your own taste of fashion.

Super toxic work place. Upper management are passive aggressive and often make you feel guilty for not being able to make targets and kpi goals. The pay is below average and getting underpaid is common.
