Overall a good place to work, though there is a philosophy that more and more of the support functions should be off-shored

No one I know thinks this is a successful strategy, including some of the management, but the cost reduction must look good on paper, since it does not factor in the huge productivity losses in trying to interact with colleagues in a different time-zone whom you never meet.

The model can only be effective when you have straight-forward tasks which can be achieved by following a standard process flow; however, such tasks are in fact candidates for automation. Anything requiring problem-solving and grey areas requires skilled local staff working collaboratively, however Nokia seems incapable of fostering such a culture

Nokia is also highly reluctant to invest in its staff, preferring instead to operate large parts of the business through the use of contractors

My typical day would consist of starting at half nine,clean the premises ,and have my bench and tools in a tidy and organised manor. Throughout the day I would be dealing with the public who would drop in their phones for repair or make inquiries about their device of other technology matters. I also dealt with shops from the locality and did constant training online.I had one other member of staff that would help with the public side of things and the processing of the work that I did. I enjoyed dealing with everyone and doing the job to the best of my ability and making people happy. The hardest part for me was taking myself away from work, I enjoy work too much and I find it hard to step away until the job is done.

Good balance between life and work. diverse culture, it feel great to work with people from different part of world. i got exposure to other field apart from telecommunications as Nokia has other software product.Flexible and efficient ways of working. good focus on OH&S as well as quality.
Learned pretty good skills of PMP working with experienced management team. i got enough motivated that i am pursuing PRINCE2 certification.
Challenge- Due to Nokia's limited exposure to Australian mobile telecom, it is hard to get consistent work from Nokia.
Working with good combination of new and experienced team was great experience.

I had the challenge of being the single point of contact for five very diverse teams. It took me a fair bit of assertiveness, patience and research to understand their differences but keeping an open mind and our focus on the task I managed to articulate between the teams quite well. NSN is certainly not the company that will nurse you in, it will give you some tools and direction and expect you to make your way. A fun place to work in, excellent atmosphere, great views, great coffee, and of course great people to work for and with.

Very focused on costs all while deploying advanced technologies.

Line Managers are mostly good that try to push you to allow you to grow.

Lots of flexibility, but if you are in a regional or a global role expect to work late hours every now and again to fit in with Europe/ US calls.

Change always started from the HR side. A company which received multiple Best Employer of the year in the past with values could changed to a different company not due to change in management or senior management that much, is due to significant culture change in the HR handling in management decisions. It always starts from there as the most critical ... 

But good to leave all that behind now ...

Nokia was a great company to work for with cutting edge products and leading market share for more than a decade, Fun and friendly work environment with lots of work/life balance.
You can't be at the top forever and this unfortunately is reflected in todays market share. Microsoft has taken over and it remains to be seen if they will be successful in regaining the lead.

A very good place to work. Always supportive in job related work/issues. Frequent training programs. Good opportunities to learn and work on new technologies. Very supportive & flexible management supporting the employees in every aspect possible. The most enjoyable part is working in a team environment with new skills to learn from colleagues.

Every day was a big challenge in this company and co-workers.
I've learned how to deal with different personalities as well as lots of pressure and how to deal with stress, which i found the hardest part.
I love being given a challenge and deadline to achieve things by.

Coffee and Tea facilities were made available for employees
work life balance was a rare commodity, very long hours often weekend work was required
wage freeze was introduced in 2009 and remained in place for 6 years. Employees bonuses were also rare
