Monash Medical Centre

My time at Monash was very rewarding met a lot of Lovely People..staff &  patients who I fondly remember with the utmost respect.
Over the 22 years I worked in 2 areas of the Hospital the Theatre Suites as a Nursing Assistant then a Theatre Technican & as a Orderly/Porter for the Diagnostic Imaging Department (x-ray).
My work in those positions which I upheld for a number of 22 years was found to be rewarding in both respect & care which was carried out on a daily basis.

I did my graduate year at Monash and I loved it which is why I came back. 
There is a lot of politics, especially in critical care as everyone is so driven, which I do not like and do not think it is necessary. It is a sad work places that means you come in to work, work, and then leave home. We should be more supportive of each other.  I celebrate Monash, it is highly supportive and educational. Great place for students to learn and highly recommended for researchers.

I enjoyed the interaction I had with management, other staff and patients. I found the walking I did to be beneficial to my health.
Typical day - Vacuuming offices, collecting linen from wards, picking up ward waste and sharps containers.
Although my co workers and I worked independently there were often times where we had to work together as required.
I did not find any part of my job to be difficult or hard.

Dealing with student issues, rostering, contacting clinics.
Liaising with Faculty, Consultants and Doctors.
Meeting deadlines. I enjoyed my job as I had to deal with a diverse of people and students from all backgrounds and countries.

this job was great, loved working in the emergency department as a clerk. the salary package was great. As a clerk my job was to enter all data on computer detailing what a procedures and data on the patient. it was very busy and loved seeing all kind of patients and learning great things about the medical side

As a student i was not only taught but encouraged to excel in Monash Medical Centre. The system is well organized and directed with all individuals understanding their roles. The team is hardworking and make sure to provide their services in times of need.
All in all, a great environment to work and excel!

I understood the functions of a hospital and the fast pace environment. Everyone is working together to strive towards one goal, working efficiently. The hardest part would be the constant changing of events, it can be calm one minute and fast pace the next, however, it is an exciting experience.

On a typical day, I would visit several hospital rooms to comfort patients. I have learnt to be calm and know a particular way to communicate with others, in order to keep them happy. The most enjoyable part of this job is seeing the patients smile.

It is a big organization which offers many specialities in various field. The work is very 
interesting and challenging but younger graduates have a better opportunities than the more senile one.


Everyone is pressured to finish work on time. Very difficult to do all the tasks asked to be done.  Many things to learn but hardly have  time to actually learn.
