I adored MercyCare, I was a Support Worker. I had an amazing team leader who treated her team like her family. It was wonderful to feel so supported and to this day in my new job I still miss it. 

Well my world came crashing down when I had an ice skating injury. Pretty much management would not do anything to help me with staying in meaningful employment, even though my doctor did sign me off for light duties.
I practically begged them to let me come on as a office administration assistant as I have sound knowledge of computer programs and even build computers as a hobby.

But every time I reached out I was completely 100% ignored. 
I did some fantastic work with my dementia clients, enough so that they gave me an award for my efforts. But after my injury, nothing... I felt like I was valued only as much as the mop and bucket I could carry around.

Well sucks for them because not only am I back working in aged care again, since my shoulder is now better, for a new provider, but I am now doing my cert 4 and am planning on going corporate with my career and actually make a difference. One day they will see me as part of an Aged Care Executive Management team and I will never forget how I was treated.

The management of the center i worked with was awesome and so  fear, but the head office of mercy care is unreliable and they dont value the employers nor the families with their children.

The immediate team at MercyCare was great, but after three years I had no career development whatsoever. The wider company culture was extremely toxic with only the friends of the Executives progressing, and money being more important than staff wellbeing. In 3 years I recieved a grand total of 2.75% salary increase despite consistently putting in more hours and not getting paid, whilst the Managers and Executives all took home 20k+ increases a year. Would never return and should have left earlier. 

I worked for Mercycare for 4 years and absolutely loved my job. My clients were wonderful people and I enjoyed every aspect of caring for them as a community worker.
Over the years I worked there I had 4 different team leaders who all had excellent qualities except for the last 1 I worked with/for.
She was too young and inexperienced for her role, she had no empathy for her staff/ team and had a total lack of understanding what her staff had to do on a daily basis. 
I have now upgraded to silverchain which is a far superior company and I wish I’d made the decision to leave Mercycare sooner. 


A typical day at work includes stress, and lots of responsibilities. There is  no support from your supervisors, but a lot of questions and emails to shame you. Team members are a mix of nice and not nice people. The main problem remains within the management and higher management who does not care about its employees. If you are useless and do bare minimum, the job belongs to you. You have no right to stand up against the unethical things happening within the company.

Upper management is extremely toxic, you're just a number and very little support is offered. Never disclose mental health, you will be excluded and ostracised. Extremely high workload and unobtainable expectations. The culture isn't inclusive, especially if you don't fit their "look". Low pay, no overtime, worked far too many unpaid hours with no recognition or thanks. Unpaid staff meetings, unpaid training with very tight budgets and very little money going back into the centre.

Providing care and services to elderly and engaging them to live meaningful

Each area work in a team I worked in the Quality Improvement Team.

I was part of the OSH team which included the return to work coordinator. I assisted the Risk Manager, OSH Coordinator entering data on incidents and hazards and attending clinical management meetings as well as entering workers compensation data for 2019 and 2018 which assisted the return to work coordinator.
Working as a team was the best part of the role at MercyCare
