Beautiful residents they deserve better. Most of the staff is good, doing the best they can under the circumstances. Even though some Managers tried to do the best they could but with minimal to no support from the company they end up resigning and their replacements were clueless with no managerial skills. As a result the combination of their poor management, low pay rates and short staffed resulted to resignations from every department. Some of the company's cornerstones: 'We put people first'... They don't really care, it's all about the business but they failing in every level. 'We listen and act decisively'... They don't! The staff regularly voicing their concerns and recommendations but no care factor, just empty promises. At some point only 3 - 4 staff were present at these meetings because they choose to assist the residents than wasting their time to another meaningless staff meeting. 'We understand' (...that good people make the difference and are the key to our success...) blah blah... Staff resignations are common because the management & owners NEVER understood, supported and gave excellent staff a good reason to stay and sadly most of them left for another organisation or sadly left the industry altogether. 'We trust, motivate, inspire and challenge' (...each other in a collaborative team environment etc etc) Just buzz words used in their website with no special meaning that don't exist in their vocabulary and they shouldn't use them. Modern facility but all the gear, no idea.  

Management is dragging down what would otherwise be an OK place to work. Speaking to staff like a headmistress speaks to school children, shaming staff in front of others and denigrating staff when alone with them are unacceptable behaviours that appear to be tolerated in this workplace. There is a lot of unproductiveness and inefficiency due to poor management which certain management, in turn, blames staff for. Management style is authoritarian which is simply a form of bullying.
Staff have to use a finger print machine to sign on and off shifts (similar to an old industrial-era clock on and off machine), and there is a camera on the ceiling of the medication room. This gives staff the feeling they are not trusted and gives the impression that management are somewhat paranoid.

Due to staff shortages, there is often only one AIN to an entire wing. The culture is toxic, and you are constantly asked to work double shifts or work on days that are your allocated days off. There is simply no time to give proper care - the basics are done but actually taking time to spend time with residents is impossible, particularly if you are on your own

The most nasty culture where I was talked about rather than to.
I felt I was planted to take up a position at Buderim Views as a manager and worked in Quality to be ready. The nasty way that they sacked the incumbent manager was distasteful and the last thing I felt like doing on the day was putting my hand up to replace her. The incredible change over of senior staff tells it all. I could not trust anyone. Everyone whispered to everyone. no-one really embraced change or calling out the need for it. if you didnt just work on, keep your head down and 'say how wonderful everything was then you were history. 
I still drive past the homes thinking those poor residents. 

This position was to fill in while the officer went on vacation. So It was a 4 week contract originally but then I found out that the position was available full time going forward. The current officer would be finishing up , not to be‼️
I then applied for it and thought I would be eligible but only to find out that the current Officer had now changed his mind and would be returning back to work there.  

After this happened I was a bit confused about the turnaround but accepted it. 

I worked there for 18 months. The staff and residents were great and made you feel part of a family. On the other hand, management at the facility were appalling. They had no idea and treated staff horribly. They were only nice when they wanted you to work extra shifts. The way they would berate staff in public was atrocious. They had their little clicks who were looked after and the rest of the staff had to pick up the slack. I know covid was tough, but to see head office send gifts to management and pat them constantly on the back white staff got nothing for working double shifts for weeks on end was enough for me.

What is the best part of working at the company?
great workmates and supportive management, wonderful management. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
its a pretty much demanding industry as it involves care ans support but that comes with the profession, you got to love it to be in it

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
very professional and workmates are amazing, the work sometimes can be stressful but that comes with the profession.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
very rewarding knowing you were of some help in someones life

Was good when first started as was very family orientated then everything changed when they took over another company and quite frankly got to big for their boots. You have no chance of advancement and they deskill ENs by allowing them to do nothing thanks to pencil pushers playing with policies and not allowing to work within our scope of practice. Poor management gets rewarded while corporate positions are created at the detriment to those actually do the caring on the frontline. Your a number on a spreadsheet and nothing more. Hard work and caring get you no where. Stay away!!

I have worked at a number of ages care organisations in my career but never have I come across somewhere where you feel so appreciated, valued and part of the family. The McKenZie family show appreciation and get to know staff and the residents by name and the organisation strives to really put residents first. They also treat all staff equally regardless of role from cleaners right through to senior execs.

We always miss our old owners.. good old Embracia who sold this aged care to McKenzie Aged care group. They say it’s a family owned business, I suppose the family should get all the benefits and the employees can stay helpless. No support from head office people, lack of resources however expectations are sky high. Sadly made me leave the nursing industry because of the workload and non necessary demands of our managers.
