The staff are very rude new Zealanders who stict to thier own group". They dont like to mix with others and they talk about others behind thier back.
The company  has poor structure,  and no polices".

If you are a forner dont appy , they only advance and promonte thier own people ".
They push and criticize people " when people are working hard and doing a good job".

Management sticks thier side , they always get what they wont .Even if unreasonable ".

Company dosent reward people on thier hard efforts ".
Never offer Employees a pay rise".
This warehouse is at the low end of scale when it comes to warehousing!"
They give plenty of overtime and overwork thier Employees ".

Labourers and some higher/senior members are helpful/fun enough to make the job ok. However those properly in charge scarily out of touch with yard operations. Night shift occupies entire life, cant realistically do anything other than work or recover from/prepare for work in all free time. Any reasonable requests such as to move to day shift (which had vacancies), or to work another section (we are told when we start that we will work in many different roles to get a chance to try everything and not feel job grow stale, though after some time manager himself admitted to me and others he had forgotten about us on numerous occasions), all ignored by indifferent management. Monthly pay is not ideal either.

I learned the computer side of things

Management don't bother you. They do have favourites which is very annoying cause their protected and pretty much get away with anything. 

culture was good cause the people were good management would ruin it 

doing 9 1/2 hours every day getting paid monthly and doing the amount of work that we do.

the most enjoyable was the people I worked with.

Mainfreight was my first job as a kid out of high school and it wasn't what I was expecting. They gave a job where people could just dump their workload onto myself and I couldn't get everything done in time as computers are not always reliable. Yes it was alright at first but the more I stayed there the more I wanted to leave as the environment and culture was repelling me away.

High pressure workload.
Management  - Company not managed well in my opinion.
Got along with most co workers. Being a competitive industry led to some conflicts with other drivers over work loads etc.
Long hours and high pressure to perform was the hardest part of the job. Paperwork was excessive and not handled well. Drivers had to find their own orders. Unlike any distribution centre I had ever worked at in that regard.

Some of the staff were pleasant.

From operational level to top management the opportunities to learn, develop and move through the business in many aspects is paramount with full support given from Management. Very long days 8 to 5:30

Was in administration learned quite a lot

Management was horrendous. They were never in management previously and had no skills for the position. Literally running the business into the ground. Management were egotistical males who had no people skills, time management or any management skills. 

Occasionally the management team would provide free meals which were then charged back to the company. 




Expect you to work more than 9 hour days with no overtime pay. I Put in for 2 hours overtime they gave me a written warning. I Got sent out of town ever day sometimes didn't get back till late and expect you to do 7 towns in 9 hours, they don't care what time you get back. They don't pay holiday leave loading. You say something to stick up for yourself and they will make your life even harder. Manager has double standards for his staff.

typical day at Mainfreight was stacking pallets, wrapping pallets, general house duties, labelling, re-packing/stacking. I learnt how to deal with other employees and the duties they are good in. I learnt how important safety is due to numerous incidents that have happened with some of my co-workers. My co-workers were awesome , no trouble (racism,bullying). I enjoyed working there because of my co-workers, the importance of friendship and also getting the work down was fun .

Able to handle high Stress and work load,  difficult interactions with the staff members who area very intrusive and already have there own loyalty to Mainfreight. You will be asked to be dishonest with clients on there behalf. Must enjoy a competitive environment and be involved in meetings and Staff drinks on site. The client Reps are wonderful and was always a pleasure to do favours for on your own time.
