Open up Stores 5 .30 am and issue tools, ppe,comsumables to crew supervisors / trades people / trades assistants .
On Delivery days meet incoming driver / HC Truck at laydown / inspection area offsite, Escort Truck/s to site . Assist unloading ( tarps,straps, forklift ,documentation etc. Once off loades escort truck offsite . Induct new stock into electronic data system ( E-Induct ) , Pack  stock away in stores. Do general forklift lifts around site for various crews ( including their bulk waste bins - on call ). Receive Customer blots and fixings ( controlled items ) enter them into inventory and store in correct laydown storage , issue these out when required and file all paperwork .Carry out general house keeping. Inspection of stores area and close up at end of shift .
This is the first time I have used an electronic inventory system,the co-workers  are from varied backgrounds and we all use each others skills and knowledge though out the working day.

Management does not follow up with discrimination complaints, very bullying. 

Worst job I have ever had, horrible site environment, manager got me kicked of site thanks to her personal relationship with the person that fired me AFTER I had been made permanent. 
They waited until I was 30 minutes away from the airport to return to work to tell me they had cancelled flights and accommodation, all this was a complete shock and was organized while I was on R'n'R.

HUGE turnover on staff because they are so incompetent. 

Have specifically told this company NEVER to contact me again. 

Men made several snide misogynistic comments to me at site and all complaints were completely disregarded. Never felt comfortable at site. 

Treated like I was replaceable and not like a person.

Commenced at 6.30 with pre start and job allocation and once I knew what I was doing I was able to work independently to complete allotted tasks. I was provided with the equipment to do the job, including work wear and safety equipment. Training was provided as required. Management was on site periodically, co-workers with few exceptions were easy to get on with and good to work with. The hardest part of my day was getting meal breaks and the most enjoyable part of the day was being able to work across the site with all trades. I was able to interact and use all my skills every day. Generally finished work between 5 and 6pm. Worked 6 days per work and when required 7 days (this was not the norm)

A typical day at work consisted of mechanical maintenance, work place safety procedures, Assisting of all trades, Working as a team, Being a handy man already i learned how to do the job, but putting it to practice every day only made me more efficient. I got along with all co-workers and built professional relationships with them, making it a good environment to work in. The hardest part of the job was being away from my family, but i soon got used to it and it didn't affect my work as the weeks went quite fast. I enjoy implementing my skills and working to the best of my ability and also learning new skills and gaining new responsibilities.

Pretenders climbing up the ladder too quickly lacking skills resulting in weak leadership, bad work culture and poor Working Environment. 

HR as usual busy playing on their phones and not assisting anyone and getting told whom to hire rather than finding the best candidate and mentoring. 

Quick Growth rate especially here in Victoria from 30 employees to something like 800 in less than 2 years. 

Steer clear unless you are someone who has no skills and has landed a big title because you will fit in really well with them.

Lots of Engineers are working in Victoria projects but live in Canberra Sydney and you name it. Working from home is the way to go there. Complete mess. 

Has few good engineers but very few.  



I worked with  Laing O'rourke for the Ichthys Tank Project in Darwin for 4 years and it's been tremendous effort to be one of those hundreds of workers involved in building the tanks for this very sophisticated LNG tanks project.  Despite of the many issues and challenges during the construction we managed to built the tanks with the cooperation of the client, Inpex and our own construction team.
Building tanks is a life time experienced which I will never forget especially as Surveyor's involvement in  those critical moments during construction.
Great experienced which is unforgettable.

A safe well organised operation in most areas of work. No real extra training given however skills/ certificates, eg: working at heights were upgraded as required. The jobs were not hard as such as long as you were already properly skilled so i found no real problems there. A good safety culture was forefront on this job as it is on most construction jobs i have been a part of. On this particular job i was VOC'd as an Advanced Rigger/Dogman, Intermediate Scaffolder, Ewp Operator and Use of Explosive power tools.

Job was ment to be for 3 weeks but end up working 3 months. At the start of this project one was always on the back foot due to lack of management and engineering support. This job had been going nearly 2 years before I started and the rot had already taken it's toll. There was a lack of direction on site, moral was at a all time low and supervisors didn't know there work scope. The selection of contractors was a major issue due to there lack off tier 1 construction of experience. Overall I was disappointed in this job.

Because I'm casual it's a bit stressful not knowing when I'm gonna get work

Ok it's not to bad most of the blokes I work with are pretty good blokes

Easy going I get on good with every one if ya know what ya doing it makes it a lot easier
