A typical day working at La Porchetta would consist mainly of customer service, serving food and beverage with a friendly and professional approach, experience with cash handling, electronic transactions and large functions. I learned how hard it is to have a team that works and meshes well, I also learnt some basic waitressing skills and how to be professional ALL the time. My boss was kind of annoying and was a real perfectionist when it came to mine/my co-workers work and would be quick to judge, my co-workers and I were hard workers and I believe we got the job done efficiently and professionally. The hardest part of my job was dealing with drunken customers, they would become rowdy and unpersuasive. and question my authority. And I think the best part of my job was getting paid. My co-workers and I would go to the bar and get a little crazy after work hehe! ;)

typical day at work is a Friday afternoon and night I get to work , clock on and then clean up the pizza bar then I either put pizza dough on or the other pizza maker does.
I've how to bash out pizza dough by hand and how to do it as quick as possible, I've learned time management skills, and how to deal with really busy times at work.
the management of the place is good but I don't have anything to do with that so I cant say much about it.
the co workers are great and easy to talk to and get along with. 
the hardest part of the job is how busy it sometimes gets and because of that the occasional late night.
the most enjoyable part of the job is working with friends

Fast-paced kitchen always, a stressful working environment where every person needs to pull their weight and know exactly what is expected of them and to know how to do it fast and thoroughly.  If this is the case, then everything runs o'kay and it makes a big difference to everyone.  Need to be a team player and good communicator and physically fit because it is physically demanding and can be mentally challenging.  It is great training staff, having that responsibility and knowing I do it well - its an added bonus to just working in a kitchen for the extra cash.

La Porchetta was my first real job and I stayed with this job for almost 5 years!

I love the team I worked with and the owners of the company!
Our work team was more like a family and we treated each other exactly that way. 

It was a very busy fast paced restaurant with a lot of families so there was kids running around quiet often. 

I learned to become a fast thinker because all your tasks needed to done very quickly through our busy rush without losing track with whats on hand. 
I learned you need to focus on your section although be aware of whats going on around you at all times to ensure that your whole team works coherently.

La Porchetta for me gave a difficult and challenging workplace mostly because i am  not used to being in a working environment, i found the management and scheduling was poor and that the equipment in the area was old and unsafe, the overall experience was fun and i learnt to keep organised so you don't become overwhelmed, the hardest part of the job would be when its at its busiest it is hard to keep up with the dishes, the most enjoyable part of the job would be when its not busy and everyone is relaxed and enjoying the pace.

I worked at La Porchetta for over a year and while i was grateful to be taken in and have a job i constantly questioned if it was worth it, the pay was way less than the legal minimum wage for everyone working, the hours were long (up to 11 hour shifts with 1 half an hour break) while being verbally abused the whole time for doing nothing wrong. We got unorganised rosters weekly with the bosses ignoring our unavailability and continuing to roster us on then getting mad after being reminded we aren't able to work. Payed cash in hand.

A day at work will include arriving early to make sure that all preparations are done for the day. I have learned to be determined and make the best of any situation. It was challenging working oversees in a different country but it shaped my character and I grew in confidence. I learned a lot working with people from a different cultural background. The hardest part of the job was working under immense pressure and meeting a lot of deadlines and customer needs. The most enjoyable part was working hard and overcoming difficult challenges and meeting new and interesting people.

i work from 10.00 morning till 8.30p.m. at night. My day includes cooking pasta, making all sauces, preparation, instructing staff as to what their duties are. The hardest party of jo is working long hours and really not being paid appropriately for it. Long hours and very fast work. I learn't how to do pasta cooking and have been doing that for 6 years now. I really need a break from a very fast paced kitchen. Cooking up to 600 meals a day/ with two staff.

Flexible hours and customers are so lovely to deal with

Pay is very poor and managers expect you to work even if not getting paid on hours

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No bad but a bit of yelling from chef and managers moody

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very routined with setting up and getting shop ready for customers , check everything stocked

Typical day:
- Clock in starting hours.
- Check with the chef, any changes to the menu or specials list.
- Check the current situation around the floor.
- Wait on guests/ customers and top up drinks.

Co- workers:
- All co- workers and authorities were a pleasure to work with at all times.

What I learnt:
- How a restaurant operates and the duties and responsibilities of the floor and kitchen staff.
- To always keep alert, present myself looking approachable to guests/ customers.
