I worked at Industrie for a short period and initially enjoyed my role, but unfortunately, my experience was soured by unprofessional management. Despite being diligent and respectful throughout my time there, I was unfairly terminated over a minor mistake—being late for a shift due to a misunderstanding. Instead of addressing the situation with professionalism, I was met with hostility and false claims about my attitude and behavior.

I had always been respectful and did my job to the best of my ability, but after I apologized for my mistake, I received a message that felt more like an attack rather than an opportunity for constructive feedback. The management team’s response to this situation was not only disproportionate but also seemed rooted in dishonesty, which made it clear they were more interested in covering up their own mismanagement than taking accountability.

This was an incredibly disheartening experience, and I would advise anyone considering working here to think twice before committing. If you’re someone who values professionalism and respect in the workplace, this may not be the right environment for you.

Honestly one of the worst places I've worked. Management is toxic and horrible with realistic expectations being non-existent. Upper management is near non-existent with favouritism being so apparent they don't even try to hide it. Certain store managers are good to their workers and respect them and have realistic expectations of them, where others will send you messages at 8am in the morning when you aren't even at work explaining how you didn't perform well the shift, and if you do well and go above and beyond you are lucky to even get a reaction. Certain upper management as well will gang up on you if they decide they no longer like you, and will treat you horribly along with the store manager until you are pushed out of the position or stop rostering you entirely. You're coworkers and the people you meet there are great and you make some really good relationships there, however the management is horrible and some of the worst I've seen in terms of being professional, with them even docking pay when you are asked to stay back, and regional managers modifying clockings so that you don't get paid for what you are expected to stay back for (eg, they won't pay you for whatever time you have to stay back after closing)

worst company I have worked for to date, very negative and stressful work environment. regional manager only cares about targets, lack of understanding and empathy for staff despite the current pandemic. foot traffic is low and there is no sense of appreciation for staff who are trying. HR really needs to review this regional manager. very micro managed, no trust at all between management and employees. wage underpayment is a reoccurring issue also. they expect casuals to do so much work including stock, VM, and everything else with very poor  minimal allocated shifts. very disappointing company as I expected much better. store and regional managers entice you to work hard through incentives but I have never received any incentives or clothing allowance. very unprofessional workplace and effects employees mentally as well.

Good company to work for if you can work without support and are self motivated. They have very high standards but little training and support for managers who are then asked to perform beyond expectations and recieve angry calls asking why you missed target when sales targets are sometimes missed by only 2% 

Regional managers don’t respond to emails or calls and can take weeks to visit stores and don’t action what you ask them to help with. Double standards! Low pay and even in a top grade don’t expect a high salary. Team environment is great as you can hire your own staff, product is good!  

You also work alone most of the time as they say they dont have enough in wages. Despite always making way more then other brands? This is bad when you get 14 boxes of delivery to do and are expected to reach a high sales target too

When I first started to work at Industrie I was excited and it wasn't all that bad. However, as I was a casual employee, I was not given many shifts, and the new management tried to give me only 2 hour shift (it's illegal, therefore I got 3 hour shifts). The new management is terrible and there is so much drama that goes on. Some of the employees are very nice people, but the upper hand is not. Furthermore, during the Christmas period I went overseas and informed my manager months in advance in person and online. However, when I got back from my trip the week before Christmas, I was informed that I did not have shifts for the rest of this period. Sadly, in January, I was wondering why I have not been given any shift, turns out they let me go without even letting me know. 
Really disappointing when I really enjoyed this job, however, would not recommend, friend another place to work in retail. 

The role itself is rarely dull. There is always something to action; sales targets, VM changes, stock management, team coaching and operational standards. You gain strong commercial awareness very quickly and develop resilience in a short period of time.

Store-level teams can be supportive and hardworking, and strong relationships are often built within the immediate team.

However, the broader leadership culture is heavily performance-driven, unrealistic, and can feel fear-based at times. Communication from regional and national management often centres around pressure and accountability rather than coaching or development. For some, this may create motivation. For others, it can contribute to a stressful work environment and lead to not feeling happy at work.

This role is best suited to someone who is highly resilient, self-assured, and comfortable operating under constant scrutiny and high expectations.

Although I made some great friends during my time at Industrie, the pressure and unprofessionalism from upper management was appalling. There is absolutely no support, just constant demanding regarding unrealistic tasks. The regional manager is never consistent with responses, displaying appreciation and publishing rosters. If targets are not met they threaten to take away shifts and blame staff not realising foot traffic has been decreasing due to the current pandemic. Hypocritical as well in terms of what staff can and can’t do. The company culture is not great at all and should be reviewed by HR.

If you want an easy entrance into the retail workforce then industrie is the right place to go. However, if you are able to go anywhere else, please do so. It is the most unprofessional company I have ever experienced. Expectations are unrealistically high when you work by yourself most of the time and foot traffic is low. Management is the worst part. They have zero care for their employees and their efforts, rather just the targets. The regional manager I was under even viewed my messages and ignored them before I finally left. Please save yourself the stress of joining this company. It’s just not worth the award rate you earn along with the absolute zero care they have for you.

Upper management have unrealistic expectations and added pressure on their workers. The store I worked in had no manager, so casual sales assistants were expected to maintain a manager’s role each shift with no compensation. At times, rosters were published as little as 3 days to 1.5 days before the new week so we were expected to put our life on hold until they were published. Understaffed during peak trade periods. Incorrect payments by payroll…had to ask multiple times for ‘after 6pm loading’ and when chasing up with managers about not being paid properly it was never addressed or fixed.

Started just over 6 weeks ago in Parramatta and so glad I did, although I heard there was a bad manager before I guess you get good and bad. The regional manager was productive in clearing out the bad staff and the environment now is great and an awesome culture again. 
Staff from casuals all the way through to management love their jobs and everyone has made progression in their careers. 
Awesome brand and regional manager support whivhbalot of other companies don’t have at all.
