The schedule is incredibly rigorous and there's a money first attitude that is constantly pushed onto employees who have no reason to be stressed about sales targets. Upper management is also quite disrespectful and rude. Supervisors visiting from the head office are incredibly disrespectful and inconsiderate of store employees, complaining about issues that were caused because of their policies. On multiple occasions, employees were berated for the cleanliness of the store, which would be a fair criticism if not for the fact that they are expected to be constantly making fresh product without having a chance to clean. The amount of food wastage is also quite appalling. On top of this, they will gladly terminate your employment with no consideration for the worker. I was consistently working full time hours as a casual employee for 2 months, and my shifts were abruptly cut to zero hours with no warning. Any other sushi shop would be a better place to work, I'm sure.

I open the store, do what I am assigned to. And if I finished early i help my co-workers.
I learned to manage my own work and do work efficiently.
Management is okay, because they consult us before giving rosters, but payments are sometimes late.
Workplace culture is always work fast and efficiently.
The most enjoyable part of the job is having new friends and learning new stuff.

It is not a job that many would want long term, though the pay is great for casual (29.31 weekday), it is extremely faced paced and the entire shift you won't stop making sushi, very repetitive work. Consistent hours, a very orderly place to work. Close can be difficult as there is only 1 person serving and performing all end of day duties. Overall its a great short term job to save a decent amount of money. 

I am from Korea and this job was good to people who from oversea with poor English speaking skill. Because there are so many Koreans so I didn't have to speak English to staffs. And it gives you chance to work to make some money and improve your English skill. At the end I could build up my sushi roll making skills.

The pay is not that good for store manager, the casual got more money than you with WAYYY less stress. 

the expectation for the store manager is ridiculous, the management is quite authoritarian and does not listen to store manager and most of the time they're too micromanaged the store. 

While the pay is good, manager can have high expectations for a trainee with few starting shifts.
Positively, it helps to motivate you to improve yourself, but it can be counterproductive as a trainee may not feel like being supported especially when they get scolded for what they just tried for the first time.

Management was rude, casual employees were never given shifts and it was an overall stressful environment. The training lasted one shift and managers expected you to know everything from the get go, making it a hard place to work at as you’ll often get scolded at. 

it was a great job, i had a communication problem because other staff only spoke Korean, but i found that refreshing. i learned how to work hard, and under pressure. the hardest part of them job was also the most enjoyable part where i get to talk to 100 strangers a day.

It is great work to start as your first job. It has simple things to do if you work as cashier but makers needs to be very fast. it is in extremely fast paced environment and the people are really unfriendly to you.

Since that was my first job experience in Australia, I received more supports than other staffs. However, the workplace is still dealing with staffs the same and the workplace can feel a bit competitive especially during lunch time.
