I have worked for the company on and off since 2010,even on my weekends/weeks off while shift working at Westrac. Due to the nature of recruitment agency employment, I have gained a wide range of experience in many fields of work, learning to adapt to changing workplace environments with ease. My co-workers are often like-minded, hard working and easy to get along with, many have been travelers on working holidays that share interesting and inspirational stories.The hardest part of the job lately has been getting sent to jobs I'm not interested/experienced in and feeling like I'm wasting time I could be contributing towards a long-term career, working away from my friends/family/home for little or no financial benefit opposed to working in town because of this and relying on the work they have promised only to have it cancelled at short notice. At the same time, the most enjoyable part of the job has been getting to work in the Pilbara, living the FIFO lifestyle and meeting many interesting people while gaining valuable life skills/work experience.

Avoid at all cost. Recruitment staff are dishonest and will say anything to get you to site. They work on commission. 

They advertise above award wages when they don't and if lucky may pay 50 cents above award. The award is so low no electrican would work for it.

They have you travel long distances to sites even when other sites have work much closer. This is due to the commission they take from your hourly rate. They compete against other hays recruiting staff. They lie about hourly rate and site conditions. Which you don't find out about until your on site. They promise better pay on future sites which they don't and will never have work at. 

For example was told of construction site where i would be paid eba union rate and conditions and that they will get me on site asap. I ended up on the site in question not only was it not a union site but hays had never been approached to recruit electricans for the site.

Labour hire are middle men that should not exist and profit off the worker to the tune of $30 per hour that you work. This money is the difference between you getting by and you struggling to pay bills and eat.

The Labour hire industry needs to regulated and licensed or outlawed to ensure people like hays don't erode workers pay and conditions any further.

Be very careful when accepting an offer to work with this company!!! The culture is extremely toxic and they just care about KPIs and money. Is a place where you are seen more like a Business Development calls machine than an actual person. Communication overall is not transparent. Leaders are your enemy that you have to defend yourself from instead of being there to actually care about your development and provide support. Also, is a very UK-driven culture where the recognition always goes to exactly the same people every single time, and the only way the know how to celebrate success is drinking alcohol. Feels like a cheap company, they don't have budget for team activities/team lunch/birthdays/etc so you would have to spend a lot of money out of your own pocket to cover these activities. Their culture is so toxic that their only way to retain employees is by offering Visa sponsor to candidates coming from overseas so they get tight to the company. The pressure on the air is next level, and no matter how hard you work they will always find an excuse to say that is not enough. Additionally, their salaries are low and commission scheme is very bad compared to other agencies. I would not recommend at all working for this company.

Hays is a great company and keep me in very regular work. 
It is performance and review based and most of those complaining saying that they can’t get work have failed to stop blaming the world and the employer.
Hays is very simple and very supportive of their good temps.
By good I mean
 they show up to the site on time and early
They follow the policies of Hays and the host employer 
They give it a go and work hard and don’t stuff around
They do as the host asks and fulfills the clients needs
If you do the right thing and are Punctual, safety conscious, follow the policies and rules and put a decent effort in you WILL never run out of work.
I myself am not the most skilled fit or healthy worker but I always do my best and put in the effort follow the rules and show up on time and as requested and I have never had a week without work since I signed up.

You look after the client and Hays reputation Hays will look after you.

If you can’t meet those standards you won’t get and keep work anywhere it isn’t the agency as some sayit is all up to you and your work ethic you only get out what u put in
As for pay rates when I work 7am to 330 5 days a week doing labouring in construction I get 979.60 after tax
Nearly 200 a day 

Hays is amazing and will support you just put the effort in and reward the risk they take in giving you a chance

I worked at Hays for almost a year, this was one of my first jobs in an office setting and the culture and environment was an excellent place to start off my career. I was lucky as I was within a good team, and that made my experience great. 

In terms of progression, unless you fit the stereotype personality they have in mind it’s hard to progress up, but definitely can be done just have to try to mould to that.

Regarding salary, it was extremely low, almost minimum wage, and in the role I was in, there was no extra benefits or commissions, even though you contributed to the consultants reaching their commission. I believe they purposely hire candidates who don’t have much experience within an office setting as those people don’t realise how low the salary actually is. 

However, in saying that the experience and knowledge I gained from Hays helped set me up really well for future positions. I loved my time here, and I would recommend it as a starting point for anyone looking to work in an office setting. 

Hays (Perth) have a toxic/cliquey culture and most managers and directors are unprofessional and gossip. The management are bad and they promote anyone to a management role because they cant retain staff, so they have no other option. The turnover is terrible, 19 people left my team in the year that I was there. When you hand in your notice to go to another agency they walk you out the door, and ask questions that are none of their business such as "how did you get the job, did you apply or.." and have a poor attitude about it. Then they try to intimidate you around the whole situation. They also only praise 360 consultants. The commission is awful as a recruitment partner or consultant as well as the base salary- you can get better anywhere else. Then they have the audacity to brainwash their workers into thinking that Hays is the best agency to work at and you wont get a better experience at another company when in fact every employee who leaves is glad about their decision. Don't get treated like a number rather than a real person and avoid this company.

I worked for Hays In the past and worked almost everyday through my consultant at the time. With a few years gap I worked for Hays again and was happy with their professionalism and the amount of work I received. More recently I asked to work with them again and was told I could. I was sick the one day they offered me work and the consultant made a disparaging remark about an interview I hadn’t been told that I was unsuccessful in. It was very rude and hinted at a form of toxic bullying. It made me realise not to continue working there. Very disappointing that no one properly spoke to me about the failed interview. I already realised it was not the right fit, but had expected the same professionalism I had experienced in the past. They also sent me to the wrong area for this interview and wasted my time hugely as I was planning on continuing working with them. I have always had excellent feedback as a casual through agencies while working in childcare and kindergarten. Very disappointing! Also the Pu rates have remained stable for many many years!

Working with Hays I have learnt a lot more about the work force. Although I worked for hays, while at work I worked for other companies. But while with Hays if I told them I was available I would be sent to work within a matter of days. All hays stuff are given uniform (not including steel cap boots) along with safety equipment. 

At Hays I learnt about chemical knowledge, I learnt ways of cleaning to get the job done in a quick but tidy manner. I learnt more about safety and to always be aware. I've learnt so much in the past 6 months that are not only skills in this job but also so many other jobs and life in general. 

What I loved the most about my job was the amazing people I have had the privileged to meet. majority of them I will remember for the rest of my life. they have taught me such great thing that I later on hope to pass on to future co-workers.

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. Extremely unprofessional and toxic workplace culture stemming from the directors down. I didn't even last 6 months at this company. This place took a mental toll on me and I didn't realise exactly how bad it was until I left. There is a culture of competitiveness, bullying, people having outside of work relationships (if you know what I mean... affairs the works) - mainly managers and directors from what I gathered whilst I was there. It is not a place for kind and good people. Its a breeding ground for bad people and a terrible environment to work in, being overworked, run down, bullied and judged. They make you work 8-5.30pm everyday and it is expected you do overtime and dont get paid for it. Im surprised fair work haven't been into this place. If you are a company looking to use hays dont do it and if you are looking to work there... well here is your warning.

I am very experienced, and have no trouble getting or keeping jobs elsewhere. Whereas with hays, it took around three months from the time of my interview to the time when I got a text message about a job.

The pay was far too low for the skill level and uncertainty of the role. Labour hire work needs to pay more than regular work, in order to account for the uncertain duration of the work.

The staff provide very little feedback about what could be done to improve employability, in other roles I unsuccessfully applied for. I found it very difficult to get in touch with relevant people in the office. They always seem to be away, in meetings or simply missing. It can take days or even weeks for them to get back to me.

Two years prior to this, I was employed through hays to a company for seven months straight. There was no option of going full time at any point. As such, I can only conclude that there is no future in working for hays, despite what the consultants told me.
