I would always say good morning to everyone as I walk through the office to give the till reconciliation to the cashier to bank.
I would start with any customer inquiries which have been left as phone messages.
Would take payments either by cash, eft or cheque if customer has come in to pay their account.
Would take inquiries from (22)  departments or customers concerning pre-paid accounts.
Complete data entry for company representative run sheets.
When required - I would back up my co-workers if they were absent with - Cashier position, reconcile cheques and eft. 
Reception roster and when required.
Go down to departments to help if they have a problem.
I would train new employees
Deal with compliant when required.

Check diary on what to do ie place orders-chase up orders-ring 
customers for delivery or pick up.New products-benefits of such,any new procedures has arisen.Management good-easy to get along with. Co- workers I loved as each had own style.Hardest was a  product or item was demanded by customer explained this could not be done they went & asked another same question with same answer.Best when you can help someone with your happiness product knowledge and sales skills and leave with upsold products

Worked 11 days per fortnight, early start 5pm finish, 1 hour lunch break.
Paid minimum wage and very little chance of advancing.
However, it was hard to lose your job unless totally and completely useless.
Some of the staff were good people, some were at best acquaintances and at worst malicious to others.
The workload was frantic due to phone orders and company policy leaving an employee feeling snowed under, despite some of the staff not pulling their weight.

I wear many hats including sales, preparing reports for senior management, resolving customer problems, ordering core stock,
tracking warehouse operations, preparing list of stock for advertising,
quoting on in-store product for customers,updating supplier price
increases, maintenance of store, merchandising and ticketing,
resolving staff issues

Workplace toxic. Everyman for themselves. Many aggressive work colleagues. Management turn blind eye to intimidating behaviour. Wild west. Be wary. Beware of favoritism and appointed dept 'managers' dangerous ways. The hardest part of the job is working along side halfwits, backstabbers & short fuses. The best part of the job is driving away back from the hardware shop  back to a safe home. Avoid this workplace if you can. 

A place where they need to get with the times (20 years behind). The pay is bad with the amount of effort you put in. The more work you do, the less you’ll get paid by cutting costs with unethical loopholes. To get the most out of there employees there are long hours with minimal pay. If you’re going to work hard do it elsewhere, where you’ll be appreciated. High turnover of employees is probably due to this.

 This place is not for the faint hearted.

Throughout my career, I have never experience a toxic workplace culture until I came here.

Intimidation, bullying and aggressive behaviour go unanswered.

Not to mention the poor staff facilities and lack of development opportunities

seeming i only worked there for about a week for work experience, i didn't get much time to really learn much about the place or its culture, but what i did do was learn almost every plumbing joint and enjoy every second of my time there

Trucks are old and dirty. Premises and offices are old and dirty. Technology is 20+ years behind and wages are below average with deceitful overtime rates. 

Nothing is efficient and staff turnover (drivers) is very high. The good driver leave for something better. 

Job culture was basic. Customer service aspect was great. Getting things done through Admin was a snails pace. Most employees are great to work with but everyone has the same gripes.
