Intensive Training as a customer of the product.
Had 6 weeks of employment lots of hours, good earnings.
Long term Management very helpful and easy to speak with.
A large group of employees during the high season can create tensions, long term managers were very helpful in moderating temperaments. Specifically the ladies.
Well managed organising and preparation by long term management team.
Variety of personalities can create confusions and egos can become unreasonable/ unrealistic.
It was nice to feel valued and was a real confidence booster for me.
Tip: try trusting your team to fulfil their duties and avoid stress through not making mountain ranges out of a teeny tiny mole hill.
This is a short term contract lasting 4 weeks for most.
It is a very rushy position but if you are one who thrives in pressure this is definitely a fabulous adventure.
If you are good at your role you will get lots of hours during this time and there is no work life balance during the rush season and no work during the off season when only one staff member runs   each store.
I loved working here, I loved the pressure and the processes, most of the people and the learning experience. Training investment is $550. 
Training staff are very knowledgable and respectable to everyone.

a typical day at work for me, would start with checking phone messages, uploading daily imports from Office's checking emails and answering the phone as it rings. Dealing with the ATO as it a raise's and checking tax return's and lodging them. This is a typical day for me put doing other jobs as they become available.

What I learnt: time management to be polite on the phone, cash handling, bank reconciliation.

Management: Not to bad I guess I could get worse.

Co-worker's: I get on pretty well with all my co-worker's just a bunch of very colourful people and we have some fun when we can get away with it.

Getting new worker's every tax season.

Been able to help client's get their tax refunds and making sure that all the Office's get what they need to make there job easy.

There were quite few, the most typical was when my manager went for a meeting and I had to manage the office. This day was one of the busiest day as per work load and on the top of that I had to answer all important calls and manage office .I learned lot of things from that day, like managing office, management duties, time management and communicating with top management people. Workplace culture is great as everyone works as a team and management looks after the people. Hardest part of the job is to deal with difficult clients. Most enjoyable part of the job is meet the expectations of the clients and see them going with the happy faces.

Meet with clients and prepare tax returns.  
Great team to work with, they very supportive and easy to get along with.
The manager allows us autonomy but is always there to support us.
The hardest part of the job is to get a balance as this job is excessively  busy for four months of the year and then there is only a little work the rest of the year. 
The best part of this job is working with a such a great team and dealing with the public.  I enjoy working with people, helping them  get the best result, and giving them good advice.

Typical shift is completely booked solid with appointments every half hour. In which time you are expected to interview the client and extract all the information required to complete their income tax return and complete the return, 

Realistically most clients have questions to ask,.. are ill prepared and often bring kids to their appointments. This means there are interruptions and you are rushed for time. Regularly working through lunch breaks and finishing after closing. Some days a toilet break is a luxury.

Very stressful, little support from upline staff and little gratitude.

Not a great option.

Flexible working hours. District Level management are great

National level unrealistic expectations. Company heading in the wrong direction and losing the customer service aspect that they have always been great at

I really enjoyed my time working at H & R block because there was a healthy and enjoyable environment along with a great staff and customer base. I learnt new skills that I will use throughout life while giving me the opportunity to further develop my character. My daily duties would include: Coming in early to vacuum, clean and answer phone calls, open the office and manage the customers. The hardest part of the job would be the promotional work we did. The promotional work taught me to be more outgoing and confident.

I was surprised at the accommodating nature of the management at every level. You need a good degree of knowledge in taxation to meet the needs of the role and you need some time to get used to their unique proprietary software, but after that, this job is straight forward and rewarding. Be clear that the role may be part-time or casual to meet the demands of tax time from May to October. But there are advantages to this like never having to compete to take Christmas and Easter holidays

What is the best part of working at the company?
Terrible employer. Ruthless, disrespectful, money hungry.  They don’t give a S&$t about their employees! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don’t tell you anything and when they do it’s last minute as they pass you by.  Like oh btw you finish up tomorrow sorry no more clients so you have to go !

Very basic work environment and ‘what culture’ it’s just greed!

Average day.  Turn up work, leave.

Working as a Tax Consultant for H & R Block for 10 years, it has equipped me with the skill to explain simple and also complex tax issues and rulings in a way that is understandable. Working at H&R Block allowed me to gain practical experience with Business Tax returns (specifically regarding Good and Services Tax (GST) and Business Activity Statement (BAS). This knowledge has equipped me with a sound understanding of the taxation needs of a business.
