Managing and periodic distributin of gold tailings in the ponds. Excavation of tailings, testing and design for use of tailings for the paste backfill. Designing and managing geotechnical monitoring programmes as required. Effective communication/reporting with  Regional Geotechnical engineer .Ground awareness training. Managing seismic system maintenance and upgrades

Attending meetings and effectively communicating with production and technical staff. Regular inspections of ground conditions, ponds slopes  – electronic documentation of inspections (safety; support quality control; rock conditions; water; structures etc). Quality control (support, support installation, support performance). For underground mine Cable design memos; Development memos; rehab memos Managing support layout designs and geotechnical standards. Downloading, processing and interpreting seismic data. Follow up on all ground control reports (FOG; damage; seismic activity). Underground mapping data collection. Managing scaling programme. Managing the geotechnical core logging process .Management of geotechnical database systems: mapping; core logging; support quality control; memos; seismic system; stope design; stope reconciliation; damage; FOG’s Managing numerical model updates and the modelling database .Open pit inspections .Reviewing/optimizing flood management plan

I worked with an exciting enthusiastic team who had a variety of projects on, and who had many different skills and backgrounds which we all shared.
There were many nationalities, personalities and ranking people to work with, all whom I worked with.
From the General Manager - who I recorded and reported the availability & utilisation of mine equipment, the Light Vehicle usage, repair, speeding and utilisation report, as many other reports to welcoming training the new the starter in the office. All were approachable and appreciative.
Best part if working with the B.I team is the constant new projects, hardest/but rewarding part was sorting out the formulas in the excel spreadsheet. ( I enjoy working in Excel)
It was a energetic work place, where I learnt alot and met some very interesting educated people.

A day at work. to much paper work before starting your job  A take 5 or work section before starting your job making sure there acquit water on your dirt before becomes a dust bomb and good rd works lazors and camera s are good and hopefully no interactions with other personal wanting to check out your stope dueing the shift it can be nice if your left alone getting the tons out best part about demoting your away from the music and you getting tons out   .   And going  home SAFE

a typical day on a mine site involves extreme conditions. working in remote areas in western australia is tough. I've learnt a lot about underground mining in the past 9 years in the industry. management onsite are very fair and good at running the mine. I work with a great bunch of people, moral is very high. hardest part is working in the heat. most enjoyable is the time off from work.

Was a somewhat difficult work culture to change as no laboratory manager was available for six months prior to my arrival and work conditions and morale had deteriorated somewhat. 
I took up the position to help out, traveling the 52 kms each way each day and being on 24 hr call out but, eventually had to return to running the delicatessan of which I was a senior partner.

Too much negative to positive, so I'll decline to right a review of my experiences from Gold Fields, except to say I was thrown in the deep end .... Sink or Swim. 

Was a very steep learning curve and I learned a lot and worked with a lot of nice people. 

I'll leave it there.

Learn new things every day and pass the knowlage to others.
Some times scrach your head and think how did Cross mate managed to do a mistake like this and fix it with own knowlage.

cultivated way of life and work good base around safety not a huge mine and contractors and workers get along. typical day is muster room meeting and in detail work schedule, I learned many things about people. co workers were tight knit. hardest part of the job was stopping for lunch.  most enjoyable part of the job was driving.

Loved working with  Gold Fields,  enjoyed it  immensely. Good roster, plenty to do after work if you like, gym, soccer, a nice amenities  room, darts etc.

Plenty of training opportunities, varied work, a good place to learn and start your career - whether open pit or underground. Very friendly people who are always willing to help. Good workplace culture at St. Ives. Beautiful site, driving in and out on the causeway through Lake Lefroy!
